Looks like Tissue Paper floating in Urine

Hi Ladies,

(I did a search but all i could seem to find was "Tissue Paper" arts and craft etc. Sorry if it has been asked)

This sounds very strange but i have been to the toilet 2 times today and noticed both times what looks like thin tissue paper floating at the top of bowl.
Yes i have checked that it isn't actually tissue/toilet paper!

It has come out in my urine.

I am FTM 30+3 weeks and haven't had much discharge let alone this. I haven't had pain nor stinging when i go to the toilet.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this???

TIA x

  • I asked my doctor and he said it was probably just discharge. I didn't have an infection and my urine looked normal.

If you're worried, call your doctor.

  • It sounds like discharge or any of the other lovely secretions that will be coming from your vagina. I've seen it in my urine samples before so I know exactly what you're talking about. But as always, give your doctor a call if you're worried!
  • I had that early on in pregnancy and it was just discharge. If you're still concerned contact your doctor.

  • Call your Dr so they can screen for a UTI.
  • Hi Ladies,

Thanks for your input :) I haven't seen it again but it sounds like it could be normal. I don't think it is an infection because i don't feel any worse or have any stinging/burning. I will definitely bring it up with my Dr at my next appoint (2 weeks) and keep an eye on it.

Glad I'm not alone with these white floaties haha x

  • I have a UTI (found out yesterday) and I've had this for about a week or so. But I saw it in my underwear so I thought it was just some extra toilet paper that got stuck, ew I know. It's worth getting checked out because I almost didn't, and the doctor was concerned that the infection was moving farther up. The only other symptoms I had were some cloudy urine and not feeling like I could empty my bladder all the way.

I'd suggest you talk with your doctor before 2 weeks. UTIs during pregnancy are known to be asymptomatic. If you let it go too long it can travel to your kidneys and cause serious complications, like sepsis, preterm labor, or pneumonia.
  • Good advise - Ill call my Dr after work. Better to be safe then sorry!
    Thanks
  • UPDATE - I just saw my Dr and did a quick urine test.
Came back good with small traces of protein. No infections and blood pressure perfect etc.
Said it can be common at this stage to have a small amount :)

Thanks ladies my brain is now not in overdrive x
