July 2015 Moms

Randoms

What's up today, ladies?

Last night I dreamt that everyone from the July 2015 board got together for 'baby and me' time.  We had fun!  We practiced infant massage and had a costume party fashion show.  At one point all of our babies' hair began to grow until they all had hair down to their feet…. I guess I am still having those weird, pregnancy dreams.

We are getting through a rough week in our household:  I had an IUD (Paragard) inserted on Friday, DH had a fever on Sunday, I discovered that LO and I have thrush on Monday, DH had knee surgery on Tuesday, and I caught DH's fever on Wednesday.  Whew!!  The hardest part is that we're a military family and know virtually no one where we currently live.  So I am taking care of baby, DH, and myself at the moment -- trying my damnedest to keep us all bathed and fed until DH is off his crutches (in approximately one month).  I am trying to keep my spirits up; send us prayers if you can!

Baby Hazel is great.  She's in the middle of Wonder Week 2 so that has been a challenge as well.  She's about to outgrow her swing.  It's the only thing she reliably naps in.  Does anyone have experience with this?

Hope you are all great today!

  • Wow! @wheresilenceismusic you got it rough!!!!

Had a super day in the mountains with LO, DH, & LD (little dog)!! The aspen trees are changing & the weather was perfect!

Just getting going today...DH is making breakfast, just finished BFing LO. We gotta get to the grocery store soon. We have a little family get together later at my moms. I am dreading it turning into pass the baby so I plan on wearing the Boba wrap.

  • I will definitely send prayers your way. Sorry you had such a hard week.

My dad stayed the weekend! I miss his cooking all the time. I'm so glad we got to spend some time together.

LO hardly cried last night. She mainly laughed and coo'd. :)
  • Today, we slept in and now LO is in his swing sleeping. I'm just hanging around the house and watching The Walking Dead. DH stayed up all night and is now 2 seasons ahead of me so I have to catch up again.

Our daughter is 6 weeks old and has very fussy evenings. She also just started her second leap. We usually try to keep things pretty low key at night to help her relax. Tonight my husband's family was getting together for his cousin's birthday so we decided to just go for a couple hours. LO fussed on the way there so we both agreed it would be best for her to just stay with me and skip the baby-passing game since it stresses her out. She did ok but wasn't able to sleep through the noise so we decided it was time to leave. As we were walking out my MIL apparently pulled my husband aside after I was out the door and told him how her cousins and her sister were disappointed they didn't get to hold the baby. She said that was the reason they came at all and tried to make it sound like I was hogging my own child. DH was livid and just said goodbye and walked out. When did babies become play things for other people? We are usually more than happy to let people take LO, but we have to put her needs first. I just wish the rest of the family felt the same way.
  • This weekend was the first time we took our daughter out in a public place. We went on a family sushi date and to the grocery store. It went great! I plan on going with her on a mini shopping trip ending of this week :) great and successful weekend. Can't wait for next weekend :)
  • We are in the Alps this week on vacation with DH's mom and dad. My parenting skills were called into question last night. My MIL says just lay DD down she should go to sleep like that. I didn't say a word. I just looked at DH who of course listened to his mom. I gave DH the side eye and he realized I was pissed so he picked her up and followed our usual routine to get her to sleep.

I shall remind him today that unless his parents are coming home with us to raise DD, I will do things the way I want to do things. I am the parent and she is my child.
  • ^^What works for one person and/or baby, doesn't always work for the next. I wish people would just understand that. DD was so easy going. You could lay her down and she didn't make much of a peep. DS...he's very demanding! and always wants someone around.
  • @wheresilenceismusic prayers for you during this challenging time!

My random is yesterday was DD1's second birthday! I was worried about how she would be with the new baby but she adores LO and the feeling is mutual. LO does not smile often but she always has smiles for her big sister. I hope that they always have a strong bond.
  • Praying everyone has a better week this week!! Last Saturday my little one and I went to New York City with the family for the first time although tiring it was the best trip ever with the best company ever :)
  • Went to work today. First time baby went to daycare. She ate 3 oz all day. Poor baby. Boob is better than bottle. Now I gotta throw away a lot of breast milk that was defrosted. So glad I'm only working one day a week right now.

    I'm hoping things get easier!!!!

Oh my word. I would have burned the whole place down.
  • It only took 10 weeks but I finally got to have a morning cup of coffee while it was still hot from the keurig. Small victories!!
  • @babymorgan72015 That sounds like a giant victory to me!
  • We had a successful day yesterday -- Hazel took two, 45-minute naps in her crib (!) followed by an hour-long nap in her swing.  Even better, she has slept in her bassinet all night!!  Hooray; DH and I finally have our bed back!  Let's hope the trend continues.

    Here's to a well-rested Wednesday!
