Allergies

a few weeks ago I posted a picture of my little girl who had tiny dots on her face, we were told it was just slight heat rash. The rash spread and I took her in and they told me that it was just "newborn rash" and it will go away on its own. Now I've read a few things on newborn rash and it all says that it should start a couple days after birth and it's usually due to hormones transferred from mama, no big deal. But hers didn't show up until she was 6-7 weeks old. -- now here is the thing I'm curious about. I'm EBF and have noticed my fall allergies are starting up and I too now have this crazy rash all over my face ( I finally have a appointment tomorrow, after pulling a ton of strings) but do you think that I could possibly be transferring my allergies onto her? Is that even possible? I just noticed that my face was really bad today, and so is hers. It all just seems suspicious.

Re: Allergies

  • My doctor said that babies have to go through a full allergy season before they develop seasonal allergies. Hope you get some answers!

  • Yes seasonal allergies are almost impossible this young because it takes a year to two of exposure to an allergen to develop an allergic reaction to it.
  • I disagree with all of the doctors claims of young children not developing allergies. My DS1 was positive for dog allergy at 4 months and has continued to be. He is now 20 months but I swear last year at this time he had the SAME symptoms he has this year...clear, runny nose, itchy watery eyes, constant sneezing. And they say he is too young for environmental allergies. Bologna.
  • And if it takes a year or two to develop a reaction to it, how do you explain hives from dog saliva at 4 months old? Just curious...I know I'm not an MD or DO but I'm around my kid 24/7...and his signs and symptoms sure scream allergy to me. Especially when the suspected allergen is removed and symptoms clear.
