Heartbeat!

Ok ladies, I've been so anxious for my first appointment which isn't until the first week of October and I've already known I'm pregnant for 2 weeks! Anywho. I have a heartbeat monitor that I used with my first born. And I knew more than likely I wouldn't be able to hear a beat since I'm still only a few weeks along according to my lmp I'm due May 11. BUT I heard a heart beat! I almost teared! Could it be I'm further along??? How soon can we hear baby's heart beat?

    That would put you at about 7 weeks right?  This is normal to hear a heartbeat.

    What is this heartbeat monitor you have? Interesting, I've never heard of this...

    Sorry to be a downer guys but its really unlikely that you are hearing the baby's heartbeat at 7 weeks. The earliest most professionals pick it up is 10-11 weeks. Chances are its your own heartbeat you are hearing. Remember at this point baby is still below your pubic bone and you have several large arteries in that area that can give the appearance of a heartbeat.

    Just came from my Dr's appointment where we had our first ultrasound and we did hear a heartbeat 179bpm. I'm 8w3d so it could be a heartbeat you're hearing. Very cool sound.

    Hearing on an ultrasound and a hand held doppler are two different things
