Horrible pelvic pain

I am almost 33 weeks and since week 28 my pelvis and crotch are killing me. It's getting worse where now I am in tears going up stairs and getting into and out of bed. I didn't have this with my first pregnancy. I had preterm labor everyday for ten weeks with my first that was nothing compared to the pain I am in now. Any ideas?? I have shattered my collarbone and this is is more painful

Re: Horrible pelvic pain

  • I'm 31 weeks and I started getting pelvic pain but it's not constant - it comes and goes. Not sure what it is as this is my first time getting this type of pain - never had it with my first pregnancy.

  • Research pelvic girdle pain. Discuss with your doctor! Goodluck.
  • I have this too, although not as bad as you it seems.  The things that have helped me are: Tylenol, ice packs (yes in my crotch. I don't care how much my husband laughs) sitting on the stability ball at work and home as much as possible, stretching and taking short walks every evening.  The walks are the hardest part because it hurts, so walking sounds so awful but I just take it super slow and always feel better the next day.  After several days, I am able to walk at a normal pace.  I hope that helps.  I know how crappy this feels and I am sorry you have to deal with it!  I keep telling myself there isn't too much longer now!

  • I started feeling this pelvic pain this afternoon and I can barely walk. I don't know how I'm gonna make it 10 more weeks if this persists. I was afraid it was early labor but after searching online and seeing this is fairly common my fears are calmed but the pain is terrible.
  • My Dr said it's pelvic area expanding for delivery plus daughter's head adding peessure. Friends who are recent mom's have suggested keeping up with my squats. Ageeed, hurts like a mother.
  • You probably have what is commonly referred to as pubic symphysis pain. It's when the pubic bone has a lot of strain on it and it causes pain. I have it too. The only thing that has helped me is a chiropractor. I am currently 28w4d with my 3rd baby. With my last pregnancy I had it as well but did not see my chiropractor until I was about 30 weeks along. Try asking your doctor to recommend a chiropractor and ask for a prescription for a trochanter belt or you can buy one on amazon. It is a belt that goes around your hips to keep them together and keeps them from pinching nerves. A maternity belt is not the same thing, a maternity belt goes underneath the belly to support the back and stomach muscles. I hope this helps and hopefully you find some relief soon!! I know it feels like someone is taking a baseball bat to your hips and crotch and it really is horrible. Just remember, you're not alone.

My research pointed to this as well. My pain in my crotch on one side only (right). It almost feels like burning or irritation when there is leg rotation. The worst is when I sleep and get up. In looking for a prenatal chiropractor and hoping it helps.
  • I have this too I'm 24 weeks, noticed since 20 weeks. Mine is mild but keen to do all u can to stop it getting worse. I saw a special physio and its pelvic girdle pain/PSD. You can buy a band it shorts to ear in the day. I was told no long walking. Swimming (no breast stroke) and cycle only. strengthen lower tummy and pelvic muscles daily as exercise.
