Getting tired baby to sleep

What do you ladies do when your lo is fighting sleep? Any tricks?

Swaddle, lay her on her side while I cuddle her, give her a paci, pat her bottom and sshhh in her ear ,,,,, or put her in the Katan (baby carrier) and walk around outside or inside if it is night time
  • Loading the player...
  • Lay him next to me and hug him on my bed and transfer him to his crib later or most of the time I just fall asleep with him)
  • I dim the lights, swaddle her, play soft music, and rock her. Also sometimes I play white noise in the background. It has a strange way of lulling her to sleep.
  • Double swaddled, lights off with the bathroom light on but the door almost closed. I pat her bottom and rock in the chair. Majority of the time it works, but now that I've said that it no longer will. Lol
  • Lights off, swaddle, and hold him close to me while I'll walk around the apartment swaying or lightly bouncing (depending on what he seems to respond better to on any given night). I'll "shhhush" near his ear and he also likes an app my husband found called Nature Melody. I'll play what seems to be his favorite one - Wind Blowing Leaves. Most importantly though...is patience.
  • Swaddle, womb sounds and butt pats. Sometimes I gently sway his head from side to side while I'm holding him and every once in a while he will take a binkie.  He does pretty good but sometimes I need to go through a few different positions until he gets comfortable.
  • A warm bath followed by skin to skin and shhhing. I also have a nature sounds app on my phone with a rain shower sounds, or as a last resort I'll turn on the bathroom faucet and sway/bounce her gently until she falls asleep.
  • @hcrish I downloaded that app after reading your post, it's neat! Yay.
  • This is going to sound crazy but I put my hand over her face.... Obviously not tight. I do it to lightly hold in her nuk as she loses it when fighting off sleep. My hand over her eyes tho seems to put her to sleep. It sounds crazy I know but try lightly laying your hand on their face!
  • Double swaddled, lights off with the bathroom light on but the door almost closed. I pat her bottom and rock in the chair. Majority of the time it works, but now that I've said that it no longer will. Lol

    What is double swaddle?!
  • Like pp have said I swaddle her, shhhhhhh her, and pat her back or bottom. Sometimes a hairdryer sound works. She likes to hit her head against my shoulder now so I've got to work on a new technique.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • When LO had surgery we weren't able to feed him the night before so we had to get VERY creative with ways to soothe besides feeding - the ultimate trick: warm blankets. Now I have a DIVA son and we put his PJs/swaddle in the dryer before we wrap him up at night. Oh, the things we do for a sleeping baby!
  • swaddle, turn on the bathroom fan and rock. Worked for both my kiddos. They loved the white noise.
  • If we are home I swaddle and bring her into the darker bedrooms and usually sway her and shush her.
If we are out and about I use a blanket or burp cloth to cover her face up and without the distractions of everything she usually just conks out.
  • I usually swaddle her and then we lay on the bed together with her on her side facing me, and pat her back.  We also have a small isolating fan that I use for white noise when she's being really fussy.
