Shaving

Someone brought up waxing before, so I thought I'd bring this topic up.

What do you do about shaving when you get big?? How do you do it especially your lady bits? Obv I know waxing would be the easiest way to go-but sounds so painful down there-esp first time.

  • Let it grow, meh. My husband doesn't care, I don't either!
  • I have always been able to shave myself. But I wanted to try waxing just so I wouldn't have to shave.
  • Im too nervous to get first Brazilian pregno. Just doesn't seem like a good idea. Prolly should have started waxing before. Maybe a mirror would help? Lol
  • Oh jeez...shaving becomes a darn chore when I'm huge. I have to get creative. I go by touch, if I feel hair I shave lol. I end up out of breath and tired. My friend had her wife help her, but I don't think I can do that.

  • With my first I did my best, then got a mirror and sat it in the shower. I think I saw on pinterest something about laying down in the bath to do it so I may give that a try later down the road
  • Ha by that point I'm so fat and uncomfortable that the last thing on my mind is my vagina (or my legs). I mean I didn't look like a grizzly bear, but I was no where near perfectly groomed. But there are ways around it if it's really important to you, it'll just take some fancy stretches and moves to get it done.

Tried that. Didn't work out for me. Lol. I just stood in the shower with one leg up on the edge of the tub, that was my best bet. That's just me though, I get enormous!

My leg hair I swear stopped growing after I just quit shaving it last time around, lol

  • I never got so big that I couldn't shave my legs, but the vagina was not even something I could see, much less care about when I was in my 9th month.

  • Yikes, this is definitely something that has crossed my mind.  These tips are helpful, ladies.  Thanks!

  • It gets tough in the end to shave your legs and other areas, But try using a mirror.

I did get a bikini wax at 37 weeks to have things all nice down there and it was pretty painful. I usually only get a couple here and there and it was by far the most painful one to date.
  • I jokingly told h he could help me tackle that chore when the time came. He didn't seem for or against it, so I may seriously ask him if, and probably when, I need help.
  • I just use a mirror. I only do it when the time comes because i'm having a repeat CS and if you let the nurses do it in the hospital its dry and quite uncomfortable :((
  • Wing it on the areas you can't see.
As for my legs I could still shave them as long as I could lift them onto the shower seat thing or whatever, I was exhausted usually but my leg hair doesn't grow as fast in the winter when I'm wearing pants everyday.

  • I did it less frequently but leg on the edge was the best bet. I shaved before heading to the hospital!
  • Speaking of shaving. I failed miserably last night. Then I went to the bathroom a few hours later and I had blood when I wiped and on my panties. I flipped out because I'm supposed to be on watch due to my tummy fall. DH confirmed it was a shaving cut!

Showering is definitely on my to do list before heading to the hospital this time. I didn't last time and it ended up being forever between showers and I felt so gross from the start of labor on.
As far as shaving, I'm just going to use H's trimmer instead of shaving. I don't want to accidentally cut myself and then the doc and nurses see it but I don't want a huge bush either. But I'm only going to do that right before leaving to the hospital. The last two months or so, I say let it go.

  • My water broke in a restaurant nearby and we quickly went home, got our stuff, and I quickly showered and shaved my legs. No regrets!

Would a trimmer hurt?? I feel like it might. But thats brilliant and much easier /safer at that point then using a razor!

Haha I kept reading birth stories about women showering right before going... Honestly there is NO point! I barely could stand in the shower, then we left immediately. My hair dried so craZy since I threw it up in a pony while pushing hours later. (Thick hair problems)

Not worth it! You just hush your water all over when they break it, you're bleeding, you're a hot mess.

Now if you're having a scheduled c section then you could maybe worry about looking sort of glam if you really want
  • @Lola2o1 - Trimmer doesn't hurt if you keep it at the right angle. I've trimmed my girly bits before when I'm close to my period because my skin gets too sensitive to shave.

@wisco29 - You have a point. Though I was more thinking how greasy my hair looked in all my first pics with DS. I'll probably get to that point and think I don't care! Just get this baby out!

  • @wisco29, that doesn't sound fun at all! My water broke at home (in the evening) but I wasn't bleeding and standing didn't seem to be a problem either. I took a long shower and then threw on a pad and left. Now, my labor and delivery did suck a lot but I showered within 24 hours I think. Just too much blood after delivery to not shower at that point. This time I worry more about baby coming quickly but last time I ended up having 14 hours.
  • I get a brazilian wax each month, I plan to continue to do so up until I deliver, if I can. I could really care less about my legs. I'll shave until it's too annoying to. My sister had her husband help with the v, and my other sister could only get what she could and regretted not waxing. Good luck everyone ;)

Real labor is like what to expect when you're expecting movie...except it's not the blonde step mom version where you just sit there lol.

Girl, I go months without shaving. And I'm Mediterranean. Not blonde. I just don't care. And long pants. Always.
