Shooting pains, anyone?

I am 33w2d and for the last few weeks I have had occasional sharp pains in my pubic area (right above my pubic bone)
I usually feel like after sitting or laying for a long time. It lasts about 1 or 2 seconds and then goes away. Sometimes I have 4 or 5 over the course of a couple minutes. First time mommy. Tell me what you ladies think... Is this normal, do you experience this as well? ❤️

This happens to me too, it's most likely just round ligament pain and is a completely normal symptom that happens with your growing belly. Baby can also hit nerves that can cause those sharp pains. If your belly is getting tight during this and you notice any kind of regular pattern to it, call your doctor to make sure you aren't going into preterm labor. Or call your doctor if you have any concern at all

Ditto this, and yesterday I got it at the top of my belly which is apparently BH. Always call your doc or MW even if it's just so they can update your record with it in case later it may be relevant. Seems like there's a lot of different "growing pains"!
  • What both pps said. I've had this, but always call your dr. Some will want you to come in just to be checked out, others will tell you something else. Its always better to be safe than sorry!
  • And water! I always try to drink water when I get little cramps and pains like these and it tends to help them go away. :)
  • Lightning crotch! I've been getting the same pains the last couple of nights, right before I go to sleep. It's super uncomfortable. I agree with the PP's.  Baby is probably laying on a nerve. I find relief more often if I lay on my left side with a pillow between my legs and make sure I drink plenty of water.
  • Talked to my doctor about it a couple of weeks ago, said it was just round ligament pain.
  • Oo I was getting Lightning crotch yesterday a bunch! It sucked, but I kept thinking of thread around here where I first read about lightning crotch and it kind of would make me laugh (after pain subsided).
  • Thanks everyone for posting Talked to my MW and she said the same, round ligament pain.
  • Up your water intake and the pains should ease. I found that when I was pregnant the more water I drank the less the pains become.
  • I think round ligament pains are different than lightening crotch. Lightening crotch is more directly in the centre and very low, like it feels like it's in your vagina. My midwives said this is likely baby on a nerve or pushing against the cervix since my baby has been head down since 26 weeks. I had round ligament pains earlier on but they were more off to the side since those ligaments are on either side of the uterus I believe.
  • With my first I didn't feel this type of cramping for a few seconds to a minute. If it ever persists for more than a couple of minutes, I would probably call my doctor. Although I was I diced with the 1st - I know labor is intense and consistent. Therefore If it's not consistent I generally wouldn't worry about it. I'm 33 weeks so I'm thinking it might be ligament pain or Bh.
