Ladies one Question: If you don't mind saying, what was the approximate cost of your unit? The Tricare website basically says your covered for what your Rx states (manual, electric etc). So not including medical grade it sounds as if I chose any one I want!

I'm currently tricare overseas and have been questioning them since August with a due date in December. I was basically told they aren't really sure because the news that they had to pay for it broke before anyone sent them any guidance. My understanding based on two different formal conversations with them is I buy it and the reimburse me for it when I submit my receipts with a copy of my prescription. My OB is on the economy but my pediatrician will be on base so I have been told by a friend that just had her baby here that the pediatrician on base wrote the prescription at the first well baby appointment at 2 weeks.
In my last formal discussion with tricare they said NDAA states that lactation support is considered a necessary and expected part of breastfeeding that is usually done in the hospital or during appointments with OB or well child visits and they will also cover up to 6 individual sessions with a lactation consultant that is tricare-authorized.
I have talked to a few breastpump manufacturers since we expect to move back to the USA before the baby is weaned and spectra told me their pumps are dual voltage and closed system, so that is the one I am looking at right now.
So from what I read no one called tricare and reported what they said. This might be helpful to some ladies reading this post later! I'm in tricare north. Idk if that matters. I also have select reserve. However I asked about prime remote too. They told me the Dr has to basically write a prescription for one. It must contain either manual or electric pump. They don't care the brand! You can go get a full 399.00 Medela pump that has all the accessories because they cover bottles, bags, storage containers, the 9 yards. They don't do cleaning supplies though! Every time you buy anything you fill out a claim form and submit it.they reimburse you! You can look on the Web site for details like what's covered under what's covered at tricare.Mil. hope this helps:)

Hello due date buddy:) my unit costed me $160 on sale. It's the evenflow double electric pump, I also purchased the kiinde twist top storage bags and 4 tommee tippee glass bottles and all that was covered by tricare after my doctor wrote my script. Also the woman who handles these claims told me I'm covered for all these supplies for up to 36 months after baby is born. So every new bottle, every new pack of stage bags and even a new pump if mine breaks will be covered. You choose a pump and submit a claim with the receipt and script. My script simply stated storage bags, bottles and manual or electric pump.

i'm also on TRS. just purchased a medela PISA (with a bag and all the accessories it comes with) on amazon and mailed in my receipt/form/prescription to tricare for reimbursement.
The Breadtfeeding shop is awesome. I know a lot of moms who have gotten their pumps and a whole bunch of accessories for free from them,,,,you can even order online...super easy. www.thebreastfeedingshop.com. My cousin too....and had a great experience.
Okay, how exactly did you get them to cover the Kiinde? And was it the whole system or just the bags? I've been searching the Internet to see if they'll cover it, and the results have been mixed. I actually started a new thread about it before I saw this conversation.
