We are just under 1 year from starting to TTC (September 2016), so we are getting serious about our baby bucket list. Ours includes:

  • Go on a cruise (did that last September)
  • Build our first home (June 2014)
  • Get promotions (July 2015)
  • Save six months emergency expenses (July 2015)
  • Travel to Europe (going in December)
  • Travel to New York City (hoping to go in May 2016)
  • Run a 10k (me)
  • Pay off DH's student loans (should be paid of November 2016)
  • Save up $5,000--currently have $2,000 saved (cover out of pocket max + a little for start up items)
So what's on your baby bucket list?

Re: What's on your baby bucket list?

    • Get married (not that i think its necessary, but we wanted to)
    • Go to Norway
    • Start the process of purchasing property
We are getting married in less than two weeks- EEE and honeymooning to Norway, so thats done, and are PLANNING the housing process, but were fine in the rental were in we just want to prepare

  • S&DSwenson: Oh, so exciting you are crossing them off soon. Are you starting TTC soon?
  • Well our main requirement, to even think about having baby #2, was to purchase a house in our desired area - CHECK!
Now I just need to graduate and finish up my masters. So as long as I'm not due around June I am golden.
  • One more loan to go and save a little money! We'll want to move into a slightly bigger place before LO is born, but I'm not in a rush to do that before TTC.

Love it! We went to Norway in May, it was beautiful!! And the seafood was amazing. Where all are you visiting? Here are a few photos from Bergen.

@bmo88 not sure if i have to tag if i've quoted.. BUT yes, thats the plan. Going off of BCP after the honeymoon and crossing our fingers!

  • We wanted one last big international trip - London, Paris and Norway in May.
Pay off student loans - should be done by next Spring.
Have $100K saved for retirement - about 10 more months at our current pace.
  • Ah! Thats so awesome @als1982

    Thanks for the pictures!

We are going to Oslo for 10 days and Bergen for 5 days. Taking the train between the two cities. Oh also going to Iceland for a day to check out the hot springs! Any tips, or places to check out?
  • Buy a good waterproof coat, boots and umbrella. It rained 90% of the time we were there. I'll try to find the names of the restaurants we visited. Otherwise, we just did a lot of walking around the city exploring.
  • @als1982 just got the jacket and boots covered! We will be there in October so I'm sure we will see rain! Thanks! Can't wait to hear about the restaurants
  • * Move into a two bedroom apartment (check!) - currently using the second bedroom as an office / workout room, but that can definitely be changed.

    * Be able to take off at least 6-8 months from work just in case I decide to stay home for a bit (check!)

    * Get married (exactly 2 months away and can't freaking wait!!)

    * Find a great OB/GYN we are comfortable with in our area (check!)

    * Take a couple of vacations together (check! and if I am prego on our honeymoon which we are taking 2 months after our wedding, I will still have a some virgin drinks and have a great time :) )

  • I haven't really thought of it as a bucket list, but our to-dos are:

-Another big trip here, Amsterdam and Belgium in March. Ok with being PG for this if we start in December.

-Save $6,000 for mine and baby's OOP max. Behind on this but will have more time once PG.

-Get a good midwife-meeting mine in October

-Teach a few more dive classes-my last of the year is scheduled for November. Not sure what to tell my boss at that point when she starts on next year's schedule.

-H has an minor surgery he's been procrastinating, and I'd love to get that out of the way.

Love the Norway pics! I'm dying to get there.
    • Getting married (was already planned)
    • Getting a proper garden (we started working on our second terrace and then we need to get grass in the garden)
    • Going to movie park Germany (checked, but was really disappointing)
    • Weekend in the ardennen
    • Finish the last paintwork inside the house
    • Getting a new bathroom (sometimes our shower has a leakage, but we can't find out where)
    • Convincing my cat to poop inside the litterbox all the time!! (He knows what it's meant for, he does pee in it but for some weird reason he sometimes thinks it's a great idea to poop outside, no matter what we tried.)

  • I can't really think of anything... Shoot, I guess that means we're ready?! LOL. Oh man. When you think about this... it's crazy.

  • We only have two big items to get through before TTC and then we have a few things to do during PG and/or when LO is first born depending on when we're lucky enough to see a BFP :)

We have one last private student loan to pay off pre-PG. We're so close I can taste it! I am obsessed with budgeting so we hope to knock that loan out quickly and then we can save while PG. We'll also need to move into a bigger place while PG or right after LO is on the scene. I love our little place, but it may be a little too little with a new baby.

Annnnd I'm going to be in a wedding. Which I am really excited about except that it's the first weekend in January and I don't want to go off of BCP until it's passed and I am already so eager to start! We will definitely start TTC in January, but may have to just get through those first two weeks.

    Great question!

Ah, I'm so ready to start TTC!!!

The only thing left is that I want a few more months in my new job position before I get pregnant.
I'm currently working from home in the US, but will move back to Norway in January for work. I feel like it would be low of me to accept this position and then come home in January with an obvious bump...

  • Our baby bucket list has remained fairly steady over the past year. We wanted to:
    1) Travel to Europe - check! We made quite a few stops including Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Venice, Florence, Siena, Rome, and Barcelona! It was an amazing trip that felt like an extensive honeymoon. I want to go back!
    2) Pay off all credit card debt - check!
    3) Purchase a home. This step is currently "in progress." We've already been pre-approved by the lender, we are just in search for the right place. San Diego housing is just SO expensive, and I no longer want to put our hard-earned money into the hands of a landlord.
  • For us:
Move in together (us, by the end of the year)
Finish school and find a job (me, I graduate in April)
Meet all/most of each other's families
Get married and then the honeymoon
  • The big thing is getting through a few months at my new job. Everything else can be done someday. :) I'm 32 and DH is 35. We're ready.

    Me: 33     H: 36

    Married: 12/14/13   DS: 1/29/09

    BFP2: 10/9/15  MMC: 11/12/15

    BFP3: 4/6/16   DD: 12/12/16

  • -Get my driver's license (I knowwww so embarrassing that I can't drive and I'm 31)

    -Go to Europe

That's it~ I will be off BCP in two months~! WAHOOOOOO

  • At this point, the only thing on the list is to make it through a few more months of my new job so I can be sure to qualify for FMLA leave, even if baby comes early.  Which is kind of silly, because that is totally assuming I'll get pregnant immediately, which I know is unlikely!
We've already crossed some major things off our list recently ... buying our house and renovating the kitchen; getting married and going on an amazing honeymoon; graduating with my Masters degree; getting a new job (we both now have jobs we like at companies we love!); and getting a puppy.  Everything else can wait I think!  But in the meantime, I will enjoy some cocktails at upcoming bachelorette party/wedding/fall festivals/whatever!

    It's a boy!

  • We are TTC #1 in August 2016.

-3 week trip to Europe (DONE)

-DH get a job promotion (DONE)

-Save in a separate account for my maternity leave (half way to our goal).

-Lose 25 pounds (I'm down 11 pounds so far)

    -Get an SUV (DONE)

-Pay off the remaining $19,000 in student loan debt (We have a little over $9,000 left).

It's been easy to stay focused with eating healthy, working out, saving money and paying off debt. I know the next 11 months are going to FLY by, so I'm enjoying this time! :)
