Trouble TTC

Introducing myself

So my dh and I have been trying to conceive since April 2014. I have just started fertility testing and have done day 21 blood draw and am waiting until either a bfp or Aunt Flo to come so I can do day 3 testing day 5 ultrasound as well as a HSG and my dh is doing a semen analysis as well. I don't know if I'm nervous more about getting told something is wrong or if they say they can't find anything. My dh tries to be supportive but this journey sometimes feels like a lonely one. Hope that's not too long of a rant.

Re: Introducing myself

  • Welcome -

I know what you mean about not knowing which is worse - finding a problem or not finding anything. I'm going for an appointment tomorrow where I will get all of my test results (I had a series of tests for recurrent pregnancy loss) and come up with a treatment plan. I'm still waiting on blood work but I did get the news that I have a structural defect in my uterus that's likely contributing - and while it sucks to need surgery in order to be able to have children it is nice to have a reason for my losses - especially one that is treatable. I hope that you are able to get some answers and they give you some closure on your journey so far and give you hope for the journey ahead.

I'm sorry you have to be here but glad you found us.

  • I definitely know what you mean about not knowing which is worse. It's great to know a result doesn't close any doors, but it's not too comforting to not know how to fix whatever is wrong! Best of luck to you! REs can do magical things! You'll get there!

  • I feel like you guys are relaying my thoughts and feelings!
Warning- HSG hurts, ask for meds! I took 2 Vicodin and still hurt like heck. And was in pain for more than a day.
My husbands semen was fine, it was interesting actually getting the sample... We should have a thread with those stories purely for entertainment purposes.
Turns out I have PCOS, which would explain a lot. It's rough, but at least we know how to treat my issue now. Hoping the best for you!
    Good luck :)

  • I just started this fertility journey this month as well! We did all my labs and hsg and now we have my husbands analysis left on Wed. The hsg was uncomfortable but not painful for me, so I hope yours goes well too! I'm very nervous for our follow up as well!! Good luck to you!
  • thanks for all the support! Thus far I have only gotten my cd21 blood tests back and they said I didn't ovulate this month which honestly I feel is odd considering I have fairly regular cycles around 32 days...this week is the ultrasound and soon after the hsg so we will see how that goes.  I hope its not too bad because I have to work in the afternoon .
