Room Sharing with Baby

FTM here. The upstairs of our bungalow has two "rooms" that we use for two distinct spaces - the master bedroom and DH's office (he works 100% from home and is tied to his desk/computer/phone for the duration). We have enough room in the master bedroom portion for baby's things, and we definitely want the baby to sleep in our room for a while. For now, we are planning to have the baby sleep with us at night, in the crib, and then during the day I'll be downstairs with baby and napping will happen in a pack-n-play. Is it totally outrageous to think that the arrangement could work?? Or will it be too stressful?

Re: Room Sharing with Baby

  • Doesn't sound outrageous at all. I always had a pack n play downstairs so baby could nap where I'm at. I also got a baby monitor for when I wanted to leave the baby upstairs in the crib.

  • I think it sounds like a good plan for the space you have but for me, I had to move both my kids to their own rooms when they were each like 4 weeks old because they were loud sleepers! Plus, I hated having to be super quiet when coming to bed because they were in my room and I didn't want to disturb them. I personally need my own space and like having my kids in their own rooms BUT if you have limited space then I think this is a good plan.

You'll know better when baby is actually here though. Everything could change!

  • It should work at first. I love my lorex video monitor for after baby went to own room.

Baby had to move to own room about 3.5 mos because snoring woke baby easily.
