Baby still not sleeping for more than 3 hours at night?

Just curious- are any of your babies still not sleeping for more than 3-3.5 hours at night? My baby boy is 7 weeks. I'm doing everything I can but no matter what I do he seems to wake up every night at 130, 4, and 7 no matter how much he eats during the day. Also he is only getting breast milk. We tried formula but that didn't hold him over any longer and he has reflux so we think it made his tummy more upset than usual. Thanks!

Re: Baby still not sleeping for more than 3 hours at night?

  • I went to a baby sleep seminar where they told us your babies sleep during the day plays a big part. At this age they should be awake for an hour and sleep an hour and half-2 hours. And do the wake eat play sleep routine. Worked for us and my sisters baby.
    It's al about routine!

  • Mine won't sleep for more than 3 hours, my first didn't either until we sleep trained at 6 months. Seems pretty normal to me!
  • My guy is 9 weeks and still up every 3 hours to eat

Same. 9 weeks tomorrow and up every 3. EBF. Has gone for 5 hours max but that's only been a few times. Honestly I think this is very normal but my LO doesn't like being swaddled so I'm going to try the Merlin sleep suit to see if he can sleep a little longer stretches. He is on the EASY schedule and we follow it pretty closely. Is a good napper during the day. My DH wants to give him formula (thinks it will help him sleep longer) but I don't want to bc I worked so hard to breastfeed!

I found that if I bottle feed (breast milk) before bedtime my LO will eat more and sleep 5-7 hours.

My son slept from 8:30 to 4:30 the other day and went back to sleep til 6:30. Usually he falls asleep between 8-9 and wakes up between 1-2 during his first stretch

So I woke up at 1..then 2...then 3 wondering why he hasn't gotten up yet.
its great that he is sleeping longer but it doesn't mean I will cause I'm up checking on him
  • 8 weeks and still waking up every 4 hours. My DD was sleeping through the night at 3 weeks old. Not DS!
  • 10 weeks here and we get 3.5 hours max. As the night goes on it switched to 2 hours. I have noticed he's a lot harder to put down if he doesn't nap well. Today he didn't get a solid afternoon nap and we're on our 3rd try getting him to go to sleep.

  • My LO will go to bed about 830/9 and would sleep till 4/5 to feed. He's been doing this for about 3 weeks. He is 19 weeks now before that he would wake between 2/3 to feed. He will be 11 weeks this Thursday and this past Sunday we made the transition from bassinet to crib. Now I feel like I have a newborn all over again. He's been waking up fussing about every two hours. I go comfort him without picking him up and he will go immediately back to sleep. When he wakes up fussing around 2/3 Ive been feeding him and then he'll go back to sleep until waking up about an hour or two later. He's not waking bc he's hungry it's just the new environment/ surroundings at night. He still has his light show/ noise machine on. I just think its gonna take a few nights or even a week or two who knows before he goes back to being my great sleeper only waking once to eat around 4/5 and sleeping after that till about 9. Wish me luck.
  • I literally just did this tonight. DD slept for 7 hours, but I stayed up after 5 hours because usually when she wakes.
