Experience with progesterone?

Hello all.

I usually post on the TTGP, but I'm hoping that some of you here will be able to lend me your wisdom on progesterone.

I am currently CD82 and began treatment on Friday after 8 months TTC with BBT and charting. I am simply not ovulating. To jump start my period so that I can begin the first round of Clomid, my doctor put me on a 7-day course of Provera. I was wondering, if you have experience with this, when did you get your period after the course was completed? Initially, I was worried that the Clomid wouldn't work but now I'm worried that the progesterone won't work.

If you failed to have a period after taking a form of progesterone, when did you have to be seen again?

I sent a message to my doctor with these via patient portal but I was hoping to get some insight in the meantime.

Progesterone has never worked for me, but my doc said I should see some spotting to a full flow 3-5 days after it finished. I usually give it a full 7-10 days and call. My issue was a blockage so I may have been ovulating, but had no visible proof. After I didn't bleed, they sent me for an HSG to see if everything "looked normal" which is when we saw the blockage.

Did you start the Provera yet? How far in are you?

Thank you for the insight! As far as I know, I don't have a blockage issue in addition to the PCOS. I hope I don't. It's hard enough just getting me to ovulate in the first place. The RE and infertility specialist did talk about doing further testing if 3 rounds of Clomid doesn't work, so I guess we'll see.

I started the Provera Friday. I have two more days until the 7-day course is complete. I don't have any symptoms of AF coming but maybe those would come in a few days?

Good luck, let us know next week if you have anything yet. I would check in with your RE next Friday if nothing, so you can at least get on the books.

I always start about 48-72 hours after my last pill. This last time though I took it for 10 days instead of 7, not sure why the RE changed that, but I got my period while still taking it on day 9 and they just had me stop. Good luck with trying clomid!!

I was on Provera and they said I would get my period 3-7 days after completing the pills. I got AF symptoms the day after my last pill and AF showed up the next day. So, it was 2 days after I finished the pills. Good luck with everything!!!

You can start AF while taking the pills or up to several days after. The first time I did it I got my period a few days after finishing the pills, the second time I got it before I finished the pills.

Thank you for the help, ladies.

I did end up starting 3 days after the last pill, so I am FINALLY starting a new cycle. I'm cautiously optimistic and a little nervous about starting the Clomid tomorrow.

I've just started this same corse of treatment. Just wondering how the clomid worked for you? I start clomid in 5 days.

@brandyraeo - I see you are new here and I do want you to get some answers. However, I want to let you know that it is not good ettiquette to bump an almost 2 month old thread due to possible pregnancy tickers/siggies that have happened since this thread was posted. There were none in this case but I don't want you to get "scolded" in the future for something like that. Your best bet is probably to PM the original poster if you want to know how things worked out for her.
