Opinions on thank you cards

I had a baby shower yesterday, and am getting ready to write my thank you cards. I thought it might be cute if I wrote them as thank you from the baby. You know, like I can't wait til mommy and daddy put this adorable outfit on me, or thank you for my handmade blanket to keep me warm this winter, etc.

I wanted thoughts and opinions. Cute, hokey, completely ridiculous? I want to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly on this idea! I promise I won't be offended...

Re: Opinions on thank you cards

  • I would be a little creeped out if I received that. But, I use a squeaky little girls voice when I really want something and pretend it's the baby. Haha so who am I to judge? Maybe a heartfelt thank you from you and your SO might be more appropriate. :)

Also, I hope your shower was amazing! That's so exciting yet terrifying that it's already baby shower time!

  • My preference would be for it to come from the parents but I don't think it's completely cheesy.
  • I would not think it was cute but would think it was odd. But I also think it's odd getting thank you notes written from our 1 or 2 year old nieces and nephews point of view instead of just a "Thank you so much for the clothes and toy! Jack* will look great in them and already loves the toy."

That is how we plan to send out thank yous the first few years until they can sign their name or somewhat dictate a portion of the thank you.

  • I guess I'm the odd man out. I think its cute, but I am a little weird...

  • I generally avoid talking on behalf of my DD and she's 2 (I typically say, thank you for this, she'll love it, or she loves it/plays with it) so I wouldn't send thank yous from an unborn baby. With that said, that's up to you. If you want to, do it.
  • Nope. Gifts are to you. Thank you cards are from you.

  • Thanks everyone! I appreciate your input!
  • We got one last year "from" the baby, and I actually laughed out loud because I thought it was absurd.

  • Agree with others, thank you cards should be from you.
  • I think it could be done well but most attempts fall short IMO. I have seen a few christmas letters written from the cat or dogs point of view that were actually pretty good. If I were you unless you childhood dream is to become an author, I'd write them from the parents and if you have a friend or family member that would appreciate the humor write those thank yous from the baby's point of view.
