September 2015 Moms

Probably a silly question that no one can really answer :)

so... 39+5 here... Anxiously awaiting little girl's arrival with an EDD for 9/23. So my due date was established from an 8wk dating scan and every little measurement (weight, size, fundal height) on every ultrasound I've had (had a total of 4 throughout my pregnancy) had me measuring exactly to be due on 9/23-- my due date never changed ever from scan to scan. Even the sono tech made a comment on how there is usually several days of variation of your EDD here and there throughout pregnancy, but mine never had any.... My HOPEFUL :D question is do you think this makes it any more likely that LO will be born on her actual due date??? Has anyone else had a similar experience?? Grasping at straws over here and feeing like I'm going I be pregnant forever..... I realize it's kind of a silly question :|

Re: Probably a silly question that no one can really answer :)

  • Not silly! I'm praying mine comes before my edd...typically <5% of births happen on their due date...so you have a chance of being 1 of them!

  • Unfortunately even if she is measuring exactly that doesn't mean she'll come on her due date by any means. She'll be here before you know if so just take it easy until then!
  • I didn't have any adjustment to my due date (9/15) and I'm still preggo at 40 + 6! It's so so so hard to wait, but I'm trying to relish a few last days of quiet and relaxation :)
  • My first daughter measured exactly to her due date on her ultrasound (we only had one). She was born at 7:07 pm the day before her due date, so basically five hours early. I don't think it means much other than your due date is maybe a little more accurate than others' so possibly there's a slightly better chance of her being born near that date.
  • My ultrasound EDD has consistently been Sept 24th for 3 months now but my original EDD calculated based on my last period was Sept 30th. My doctor is hopeful that DD2 will come this week.

However, based on my experience with DD1 where my ultrasound EDD was once again earlier vs my period EDD (I had less ultrasounds however) and yet I still went 6 days overdue my period EDD (and only to be induced), my recommendation would be to not keep your hopes up too much. Baby will come when he/she is ready.

Have you had any contractions or signs that Wednesday may be the day?
  • Today is my due date and I had absolutely no signs of labour or baby coming. But this am my water broke so we are on our way to the hospital!
  • With my first I measured exactly for May 15th my due date never changed the entire time from scan to scan AND she was born on her due date!!! :) we were just lucky because that's so rare! I'm due tomorrow and hoping her little sister decides to come on her edd also
  • @sararegine I've been losing my plug for the last week or so (sorry tmi) and seem to have near CONSTANT BH contractions; very uncomfortable but nothing I would consider painful yet, but seriously it's like I have them every couple mins or so... No dilation as of last Friday though.... I've been feeling crampy on and off for what seems like weeks.

It's like ever little ache and twinge has me thinking "maybe this is it!!" and it never goes anywhere. I've pretty much resigned to the fact that unless I'm doubled over in pain that is timeable then I'm not in actual labor. When I actually do go into labor I'll probably still be doubtful- at this point I feel like it's just never going to happen for me!
  • @RFIERLE I hear ya momma! I've been losing my plug for over 3 weeks now and for the past 5 days have had serious contractions that then disappear after a few hours. It's so frustrating! I really hope your LO sticks to the schedule and appears on the 23rd. Will keep my fingers crossed for you. I'm applying pessimism to myself because I can see the 24th rolling around and DD2 making no appearance and me having a crying meltdown. My hormones are all over the place this week. The joys of pregnancy!! Fingers crossed for you!
  • my LO measured a week early all thro the 3rd tri, and was born a week late!
  • Mine was also dated by ultrasound. He measured perfect at every scan and fundal measurement the entire time. Once my due date came and went I did some research because my mom thought maybe it could be wrong and I read that dating by ultrasound between 6 and 13 weeks is 95% accurate because there isn't much variation in size/growth during this period and there's a +/- 5 days error margin. He finally came 6 days after my due date.
