Metformin food aversions?

I made this awesome clam and dungeoness crab chowder today for the game.... And couldn't eat it.
Ever since I got to 4 pills a night of metformin, I have been not hungry. Also, food aversions to a lot of foods I normally love. I've lost 5 lbs in the last week, which is good, 10 more and I'll be at my ideal weight. But what about after that? Anyone else having food aversions on Metformin? I feel like I'm forcing myself to eat... Something I've never had to do before!!! I'm not sure how to keep my appetite up....

Re: Metformin food aversions?

  • I've never been on metformin but I've heard lots of people complain of stomach and nausea/appetite issues until their bodies got used to it.   I'd give it another week and then call the RE if the poor appetite continues.

  • Yes. I've been on it for years and in the beginning I couldn't eat anything. Your body will get used to it but it does take some time.
