I am dying for a roasted turkey and avocado BLT from Panera but not sure if I can eat it. Is it okay to eat roasted turkey? I know obviously no deli meat, but not sure if roasted turkey is safe. Thanks!
I haven't been the best at following "rules" during pregnancy but baby & I are doing pretty well at 38 +4 lol. I'm sure once or twice won't do any harm. Just enjoy it!!
The only "risk" in the deli meat controversy is Listeria. Listeria is a risk to ANYONE who eats any food... Usually more likely sources are deli meat, meat, and produce. However... Getting Listeria poisoning while pregnant is more serious than the non-pregnant population. Just like food poisoning, and bacterial infections, viruses, etc etc....
The only thing I have not consumed while pregnant is alcohol. (Also not a smoker or drug user). There are risks with any food you eat as well as any actions you take in life. Just make your best judgment and know the food safety policies in action/cleanliness of where you're getting your food. Threads like this really make me SMH. Use your best judgement ladies!!!

All of this!
One of the first things my OB told me, after "congratulations, you're pregnant!" was not to worry about lunch meat. I avoid the gross, cheap, slimy stuff, but I would avoid that anyway!
The last big listeria outbreak came from spinach and cantaloupe. There were also listeria concerns recently from my favorite hand dipped ice cream-Jeni's. I haven't been too worried about deli meat because we get our deli meat from a very reputable deli in town. If you are concerned, just heat it up. This baby also loves milk shakes, which technically we shouldn't be having anyway since its soft serve ice cream from most places. Use your best judgement and ask your doctor for guidance if the ladies of the interwebs aren't answering your question to your satisfaction. Sometimes you can give into your cravings.
Just be smart about it. If it's a kind you've gotten before from a source you trust and have never gotten sick there before... chances are you won't get sick this time either. I've had deli meats, even sushi throughout this pregnancy, all from trustworthy places where I've gone multiple times pre-pregnancy, and baby is as healthy as can be!
