so I have known from 14 weeks I was high risk of preeclampsia and my blood pressure may sky rocket, well it has so I had to be put on blood pressure medicine, no big deal. Than I have to cut out salt, no big deal I could deal with it for baby. Next came being diagnosed with gestational diabetes, limited carb and high protein diet, ok I can do that. Now I find out I have gallstones which the diet for that is the BRAT diet, and I'm allergic to bananas. Rice, Applesauce, and toast will make the diabetes go out of control. I'm just so over welmed and add to that, I have to go to the high risk doctor. The nurse stated I most likely would not be eliagiable to have my gallbladder removed until after I give birth (lucky me) so it's dangerous if I eat what I need to in order to stabilize my diabetes for my gallstones. And bad for my diabetes if I eat for the gallstones. I just want to go under a rock and cry. I'm just praying the doctor will have a solution. 3 more hours and I'll be on my way. Sitting at work has been hell today.

Re: If I eat like they want me to I won't at all :(
I was always told fresh fruits & veggies, lean meats, whole grains & plenty of fluids. I was always told to avoid foods with high fats, high salt, etc.
Just wondering who gave you the advice for the BRAT diet with gallstones because that is something I've never heard of.
Here is some information for you regarding diet and gallstones.

This is the exact print out they'd give you at the hospital if you went to ER for gallstones.
Is there one source of truth you trust to walk you through all this and get you on a diet that will nourish you both and not make you feel like garbage? You need that one source of truth.
Unfortunately for me my doctor is more insistent that the GD class is the fix all for all patients instead of one on one consult which is what I would much more prefer. He also doesn't seem to think I'm going to need surgery on my gallbladder, which is going to be horrible money wise. My sister "didn't need her's removed" until it was an emergency 2 years after she told them they needed to take it out
I'm taking it one meal, and one day at a time. I'd rather have pain from the gallstones than my sugar going haywire and lucky for me I can avoid salt which is pretty easy for the high blood pressure, which with the smallest amount of medicine is back to my normal 110/65.
I see--it will be pretty hard for your dietitian to stay on top of everything when you're being seen elsewhere.
