3rd Trimester

Gift Giving - Honorary Aunties and New Grandparents

Hi all!

My baby girl is due in December (not quite 3rd trimester but almost!) and my shower is a month away. My mom's three best friends are always the ones to throw me parties; all of them I've known since I was born, I'd like to get them something that says honorary auntie, but isn't kitchy or cutesy (not their style).

Also, I'd love to get my parents something for being new grandparents, but they aren't the type to wear custom shirts or have necklaces with initials or anything like that; they're very minimalist and modern.

Any ideas? Pinterest and Etsy were a bust :(

Any well-meaning help is appreciated!

  • Maybe key chains?

  • This is kind of an impossible task. Th e basic notion is kind of kitschy (not in the derogatory sense, just literally it is a desire to celebrate the novelty and fun of it all).

I really like the Keychain idea because it can be small, tasteful, engraved.

Another approach would be not to get something "themed". Just a heartfelt note from yourself, expressing your gratitude for their support and friendship over the years, would be all that is appropriate and needed.
  • Thanks for the input, though I'm still debating.

I'm probably going to do a really nice frame (like the kind you get where one side is a photo and the other is an invitation) and include a photo of the three "honorary aunties" together, since they're all throwing me the shower together, and writing a letter to each of them on the other side.

A keychain, though it might fit the bill, seems really impersonal.
