pregnancy blood test. ....... abnormal!

I went in the other day to confirm pregnancy with a blood test, half to put my mind at ease and half for insurance purposes. The results finally came in the mail today. It has a big bold positive! But then it lists it as abnormal. Now I am back to freaking out. Has anyone ever had something like this happen? I still doubt have a doctor I can call or see about this yet. Mighty confusing reading on the net.

    What kind of results did they give you? Do you have your beta hcg levels? Did you only get one blood test or more?

    It was just one to confirm pregnancy. It doesn't seem to have hcg reels our anything on it. Just positive and abnormal. Even the reference range they were testing in was left blank Since they were only testing for positive or negative. I almost wish they had tested for more, then they may have given me more info. Husbands trying to be supportive, since this doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, Just that I tested outside the test parameters. Still super scary!

    Maybe outside the normal levels which would be not pregnant? Because most people are not pregnant? That's an odd ways to give you results though :( Hope all is fine!

    Sadly it didn't list what the normal whatever was our where I tested at. If they had given me some numbers maybe I could have better pieced this together.
    It's taken us two years to get pregnant after an early miscarriage. I was really betting that this would be it. That it had finally happened, now I'm so unsure. Planning on calling the clinic that tested Monday to see if they can tell me what abnormal means

    I got that as well on mine they did that test by accident. They did a beta at the same time at 29dpo (6 weeks)it came back at 101,233. My only guess is that over a certain number it says abnormal.

    But so far everything has been okay with you? Maybe thats what happened with me, except they weren't testing for levels. Ahhhhhh I wish things were simpler.

    So far I've been doubling. I just have really high hcg levels but they double. I plan to check with them Monday. My first US is the 30th. I might push for one sooner. In my head I'm praying it just means multiples.

    Have always wanted multiples so super good luck with that! At this point im hoping I still have one. Why do the worst things happen over the weekends? Now I have to wait til monday to call the lab and go through all this worrying

    A "normal" blood test for a woman is to have <5 level of bHCG. An "abnormal" blood test means your bHCG is over this level meaning you are positive. I know it sounds strange to be called "abnormal" when you are pregnant but its the way the lab alerts the DR that the levels are outside "normal", if that makes sense.

    Do check with yan Dr if your worried, but it just means your bHCG is higher than "normal". ETA: thats how its reported here, they are even highlighted red in the drs system to show they are "abnormal", I known because I work i a hospital.

    That makes me feel a bunch better. It was just so nerve racking.I only expected there to be a yes or a no, which was all I needed for insurance. They had to go and put abnormal on there just to give me a mini heart attack.
    Thank you so much for helping to put my mind at ease. Now I can focus on finding a doctor and drinking more water lol

    My results online said "out of range" (I went to a diagnostics place because it was a Saturday). Basically it said a normal range was <5 (not pregnant) so my level was "out of range" because I am pregnant. Maybe that's similar to your case?

    I positive pregnancy test is always considered Adnormal. If you have questions, call your doctor!
