Last night I went out and drank way too much. I didn't pump and dump. Should I do that before nursing my LO? Or am I safe to feed her now because I've sobered up?
No need to ever pump & dump per my doc. Unless you are engorged & it's uncomfortable. Just wait the adequate amount of time for it to be out of your system & feed as normal. I heard two hours for one drink but I'm sure overnight sleeping gets a lot out of your system. There are test strips out there if you want to be sure.
If you're that worried about it try the alcohol strips to get a feel for when the alcohol actually shows up in your milk. I had to have a pretty hard buzz on for it to show up. Then I did pump and dump so it wouldn't affect my supply. But once you're feeling ok your milk should be good. The general rule of thumb is if you're ok to drive you're ok to nurse. If my son was taking a bottle of previously pumped milk and I were drunk, I would pump then and dump it to keep my supply up. It's a really bad idea to just go without pumping or nursing at all.
