Workout Clothes?

What do you ladies wear to exercise in nowadays? I haven't really found any good/affordable maternity activewear, and find my yoga pants still fit under my bump, but my tight workout pants don't, and I don't want to stretch out any of my old workout clothes so that I can't use them after! Do you just wear older clothes you have lying around? Buy workout gear in a larger size? Have you found any maternity exercise clothing?

Re: Workout Clothes?

  • I've still been wearing the exercise gear I own as far as bottoms and tops. Bras are becoming uncomfortable, but I figure a larger size can easily fix that. I imagine most exercise bottoms could be purchased in a larger size and just worn under your bump, since they tend to have a lot of stretch. I really like Nike brand athletic shorts, but you can find comparable ones in an off-brand. I would recommend looking somewhere like TJ Maxx for the most bang for your buck if you stick with non-maternity items. If you won't be able to fit them post-pregnancy there's no use shelling out the big bucks. I haven't found any maternity workout gear, but I also haven't looked.

  • Embarrassingly, I've been wearing some of DHs t-shirts with shorts under my belly. Not very fashionable, but free.
  • Oh and for tops you could always buy men's undershirts (like Hanes) in a large size. They come in packs and aren't really expensive. I used to do that because you can bleach them easily and are cotton.

I'm having trouble with bottoms, but I found some good maternity tank tops (not TRUE exercise gear, but good enough) at the GAP for $10.

I've bean wearing men's shirts which are cheap at Ross/marshalls and my normal shorts under the bump but I doubt that will last. I have some leggings from Motherhood that should work once it gets colder (full panel) so maybe try that?

  • I'm wearing regular yoga pants from target and old navy maternity ribbed tank tops. Easy and both items are multi function!
  • I'm wearing my old yoga pants and my compression shorts under the belly. I did splash out and buy a maternity running top from the internet, it was pricey ($40) but totally worth it to me... it makes me feel great, I wear it often and will be my 'costume' at baby's first half marathon next month.
When that top is in the wash I wear a larger sized tank top I picked up cheap from TJ Max.
  • I bought a pair of maternity yoga pants at Old Navy and I love them. My working out is limited these days but they are so comfy to lounge around in especially after wearing work clothes all day.

  • I teach dance for a living so workout gear is what I wear daily. Old Navy had great stuff on sale and if you register for emails, you get discounts that way. I was also lucky and found some pants at Khols for like 12$. So comfy! For tops, I've been buying bigger sizes in regular tops or just wearing the few maternity ones I got at Old Navy, Macy's, and Burlington (all on sale!) I'm pretty cheap and would rather spend money on the baby
  • My old pants still technically fit under my bump but they're all compression so they're too tight and my hips seem to have gotten a little larger causing a nice muffin top effect when worn that low! Lol I have found decent ones that are full panel at target. They aren't my favorite but way more comfortable than my non maternity ones. As far as tops I have some tank tops that's were previously loose that I've been wearing!
  • I tried old navy today and it was a joke. All the shirts were practically see through and would require me to wear two unless I want my sports bra on display alon with outlining my entire body . Plus they aren't long enough for me unless I want some bump hanging out the bottom when I near 8 months. Went to target and bought a men's moisture wicking shirt. Pants in wearing Aviva from Walmart. But I also bought a pair of men's shorts from target. They expand bigger and aren't really short.

Me too! The maternity tank tops at GAP are great - for everyday wear and working out. I'm having trouble finding bottoms in general though.
  • I've just been buying up a size and it so far so good, but a lot of my old stuff is still fitting just fine
