Another husband rant....so I don't kill him.

The ONLY toilet is clogged. The plunger is broken. Somehow this is NOT an emergency? He's like...if it was winter I'd take care of it right away. WTH difference does that make??? IS HE EXPECTING US TO POOP IN THE YARD??!!! Plunging it might not work anyway. He says. Well then it's a good thing our LANDLORD is a freaking PLUMBER!! But he doesn't want me to bother Chris until he tries plunging it. THEN GO BUY A PLUNGER!!! All I want you to do is go buy a plunger. A plunger. At the store. Right NOW. And I shouldn't have to yell at you in front of your mom to go do it. I shouldn't have to threaten to text the landlord and say "my husband is too lazy to buy a new plunger today because it's not winter, so can you please come fix the toilet." And if one person comments on this and says "why don't you take care of it?" I'm gonna flip my lid. I am sick and tired of taking care of EVERYTHING while he sits on his arse and builds virtual societies on his computer....I WILL take care of it if he doesn't. But if I don't force him to get up and do a FEW things, then I just have this giant overgrown child to take care of...

  • No advice, but I'm sorry you're going through this. DH can be like this sometimes, too. He says he doesn't have time to do something not that big for weeks but somehow can find time to check in with his online game most days. It's frustrating.

  • Yeah...the man needs to go buy a plunger. My DH thinks I'm a little off my rocker for insisting that we keep doing random things around the house that don't really need doing. I just don't want random things left undone if we head to the hospital and either of our moms have to here taking care of the older two!
  • If it was something that required the use of power tools, I would tell you to get them out and start setting up like you are going to fix it yourself. There's nothing that gets my DH moving faster than when I get out his drill and screw drivers! But obviously this doesn't apply to buying a toilet plunger unless he has a Ferrari that you could drive to go buy said plunger.

I'm sorry he's balking; that's really rough especially when it is something as necessary as the toilet.
  • Was he lazy/ neglectful like this before you were pregnant?
  • If I were you I'd totally text the landlord and say what you said "my husband is too lazy to buy a new plunger today because it's not winter, so can you please come fix the toilet." That made me lol because it's totally how I would say something in that situation.

You have him fair opportunity to do it beforehand, AND you have a right to the landlord as much as he does! Besides, the landlord would rather get an issue like this solved at this level before it could turn into anything worse!

    My vote? Call the landlord.
  • Poop in the yard. Call his bluff. He'll never delay running an errand again ;)

    Ps I'm four days overdue and going a bit nutty, so you might not want to listen to me... 8-}
  • You have three grown adults in your house, all of whom will presumably need to use the toilet sometime in the next 4 hours. One is pregnant. Call the landlord!!!
  • Oh my blood boils for your sake! We have a leak under the sink in our kitchen that SHE has been ignoring. I am starting to get really annoyed about it. But the clogged toilet is much worse. If only it was winter... ??!!!

  • I just want to know how winter makes a difference, lol.

I am sorry he is being so frustrating.
  • All you ladies are so sweet... I'd grab him by his balls, look him dead in the eyes, and tell him that juries hardly ever convict pregnant ladies...
  • Go unplug his stupid game and force his ass up away from it. You need to have a long hard discussion with him about stepping up and acting like a man and taking care of his family instead of acting like a child. Try to keep calm during your discussion with him and explain how it makes you feel. Good luck.
  • This made me lmao.
id lose it. Im way too tired and emotional to put up with any BS.
pack my bag and say im going to a hotel with a working toilet
  • F talking calm to him! I would blow the roof off your house. He would see the damn winter in my eyes!

And I would really take a poop on his computer. But that is me and I may be a bit crazy.

(..... I just got a contraction thinking about it.)
  • Plugged toilets really bring out all the crazies on this board lmao.
But to be honest, I'd probably do the same thing. Poop in the sink or something.
  • Gamers ... Major props to you girl. I dated one on and off for three years and almost lost my mind! Trying to get them (at least in my experience) to do anything other than playing video games is impossible!
  • Lol.  The computer is often the target of the vindictive schemes in my head.  One time I did dismantle it and put it on the deck...I am wondering if he's starting to get somewhat freaked about the new baby and retreating somewhat (which is ridiculous because he was already kind of doing the bare minimum I needed him to).

Omg!! I seriously LOL'd at this!! He would see the damn winter in my eyes!! Omg!!!
I think forever I'll say for anything, "if only it was winter..." Lol
  • And I thought I was the only one with a husband that was tempting his own fate... this thread is cracking me up! But seriously, what is the conviction rate of pregnant or recently post partum women? Just wondering....
