Baby girl's nursery is going to be woodland themed, but we haven't decided between pink or mint for her bedding and accent color. I think mint would go better with the forest theme, but dh says a girl's room needs to have pink. Lol I will post pictures below...

Re: Color for the nursery: pink or mint

  • I'm borderline crazy and printed out the two color options and the paintings we plan on putting up to try to show hubby that mint looks good and can still be feminine... He is still not convinced. We bedding we've chosen is sweet little fawns on a crib skirt and triangles on the rail guard. It's literally just different colors.

  • I love the pink! If the mint was a little more vibrant I would have definitely voted for that! I love that you printed it out lol. Either way it will be adorable. :)
  • I'd say pink! You can always add mint later if you decide it needs it.
  • I vote mint. I am really biased though as I was forced to have pink rooms and accents growing up and despised it. I don't think just because it's a girl, she needs to be surrounded by pink and if it were a boy, they don't need to be surrounded by blue.
We picked our nursery colors and bedding before finding out the sexes because we wanted very gender neutral colors.
I figure, everyone will buy you sex/gender specific things that it's best to have a neutral base.

  • I vote paint the walls the mint but accent with pink decor. Pink on the walls is a lot of pink
  • I love mint and pink together so I would also vote for mint walls with pink accents! I was planning on doing those 2 colors together if I was having a girl, I'm having a boy and doing a white and gold nursery so clearly am not the most traditional type :)
  • I don't think we'll paint the walls... Our house came with gray walls and I like the neutrality of it. The chair we got for the nursery is gray as well.
  • As PP said, I say both! They are colours that go together well and you can mix and match!
  • I like both colors!!! Use both
  • Both go great together

  • I agree that the mint is a better fit for a woodland theme, maybe you could add just one or two pink things? Like a soft, cloth pink dolly displayed somewhere or light pink storage containers?

We did a Narnia theme, so woodsy with lions and mostly brown and green colors, however I added a small white bookshelf that uses cubed storage, it came with 4 red cubes, but I switched them out with cubes that were light green or light pink. Just to add a slightly girly touch that was also practical.

  • Maybe just do one accent wall with opposite of whatever you decide for the bedding. That way you both have a little bit of what you like. I think a pink or mint accent wall will go great with the grey walls.
  • I'm not into pink at all so I'm completely biased. Our little girl's room is a more adult-feeling ocean theme with mint, teal, grey, chambray blue, and very modern white furniture, and a modern grey glider.
I think mint for your little girl's room would be beautiful. It drives me nuts when people automatically assume everything needs to be pink just because one is having a girl! Mint also would definitely fit your theme better. Like PP's mentioned, the colors go well together too and having a palette of mainly mint and grey with little pops of a light pink could look really great!!
