i am in the oh so fun 2 week window
Had my IUI on Sunday and Monday this past week. Had blood work drawn today. My progesterone levels were great- my estrogen levels were low. The nurse left a message on my voicemail telling me she was calling in a prescription and that it is safe to take in the first few weeks but not after 12 weeks
I went to the pharmacy and had to speak to the pharmacist who told me it has a black box warning on it for pregnant women. She was very serious about it- it freaked me out!
Has Anyone had to take it? Any thoughts??
Re: Estradiol- estrogen- safe to take?
It is not normally a medication for pregnant women however, it is very commonly used and needed for those who have had infertility struggles. I know it's hard not to over analyze every after the long journey you've been on but this medication should be perfectly fine. I'm now 25w and both my babies are doing just fine.
Yes both estrogen and progesterone are catigory x drugs. However they are category x drugs because they used to be completely synthetic. And synthetic estrogen had caused birth defects. They are safe to take and they will tell you when to stop them I got my BFP last week a.nd they still have me on 3 MG of Estrace and 10 MG of progesterone. They are considered pregnancy support for usually 8 to 10 wks. Some long er some shorter that depends on your re.
