Dreams/ Nightmares during Pregnancy

Hi all,
I've had some very very detailed dreams (more like nightmares) and I'm gathering that weird dreams are very common while pregnant because of hormones. I also have hallucinations and weird feelings all the time. Now this wouldn't bother me in anyway normally but I live on an old ancient burial ground in Hawaii. Any one else experiencing dreams like this so I don't think I'm crazy?
Thank you!

Re: Dreams/ Nightmares during Pregnancy

  • I have a history of sleep paralysis with hallucinations, and they absolutely reared their head when I got pregnant. It's quite terrifying, but it's harmless. Meditating can help... and practicing learning how to yank yourself out of it, although that does take some time.

  • I read that thread. I didn't really see what I was looking for. Thank you for the advice.
  • As a side note - while sleep paralysis hallucinations are harmless, if you are having waking hallucinations, please talk to a doctor. That could be serious.

Sleep paralysis is soooo scary. Have you been successful in learning how to wake up from them?

I have discovered that it's worse if I'm sleeping on my back. If I'm on my side then it doesn't happen near as often, if at all.

I've had it for so long that I've learned a lot of coping mechanisms. I can actually turn it into a very pleasant experience many times through lots of practice. When I can't make it pleasant, I have to force myself literally up and out of bed in order to full get out of it. Otherwise, I just get continually sucked back in.

That's the same with me. If I don't get up and adjust then I fall right back to "sleep"

I've had it for a while, but it only happens once a month or so and I haven't had a lot of practice waking up. That's awesome you can turn it into a good experience. I'll have to try harder next time :)

This is going to sound crazy, but it's what I do, and it works for me. The advice I was given was when I felt it happening (I can identify it as I feel almost like I'm vibrating when it starts), relax and tell myself "I am leaving my body." With that, I'm able to project it into an out of body type experience. I literally feel like I'm coming out of my body and am able to travel around... it's like a lucid dream + drugs or something. The pleasure of it is as intense as the terror of the paralysis & hallucinations. It's amazing. (Makes for some amazing sex dreams...) hehe.

  • I have a LOT of sex dreams, and plenty of weird dreams. Last night I was fighting in the zombie apocalypse, lol.

This is going to sound really woo-woo, but would having a Hawaiian priest visit help you feel better? I had a friend in a similar situation (I can tell you the story, didn't want to right away in case it scared you more) who had a couple priests visit and do some rituals, which helped.

Honestly, I don't think it will scare me. I've had quite the dreams and I have seen things in my house that I am open to hear it all. My dreams are so bad, I feel as if I am awake the whole time and just sleep walking. I've had the same exact dream 3 times now and I have woke up screaming at the same spot everytime. This is why I say that other thread didn't really help me as well and I needed to creat my own
