Trouble TTC

Checking in with all you girls

Well I finally went to my apt. I had my blood work done and it shows that my progesterone was 6.4 so I must have missed my ovulation. Which isn't a shocker since I have been busy the last two weeks since my husband had neck surgery. So now I have to wait two weeks to see if I get a cycle. If not cycle then they will give me provera to create one, and then they will have me take clomid and be monitered. So hoping that this will work. Any ladies have experience with clomid that they would like to share? Hoping all you women are doing well also!

Re: Checking in with all you girls

  • It's great feeling to get the ball rolling, isn't it?   Did you get a diagnosis?  Most of us have tried Clomid, I really didn't like it too much (bad moods, hot flashes) but others might have a more pleasant experience.  GL

  • @mackenzie07 welcome I hope your stay is short. I am on my second round of clomid. My first round when I was taking it wasn't bad but right after I definitely noticed mood swings. The slightest thing would upset me and I would have to calm myself. I think it made it easier hearing other people had mood swings. I had also warned DH so he didn't take offense to it. I'm hoping it's not worse this cycle since my dose was increased. There is another message board you might find helpful called first round of clomid. I know a lot of people have posted there and I found it helpful.
  • They just said it could be from my endo and pcos together. they said if three rounds dont work then they would go in again and re check my tubes and check my husband. It does take my mind off of it but I just hope and pray on of the rounds work and we can welcome a little one. It gets old after a while when you see friends and everybody else having babies.

  • @mackenzie07 sorry I mistyped it's in the Trouble TTC board. You can use the search option or scroll through the topics. It last had someone post in it Sept 10th.

You're seeing an OB, right?   It drives me crazy when they do this.  An SA is the easiest and cheapest infertility test there is, and 40% of all infertility is male specific.  Yet they give us women drugs that drive us insane for months and can actually decrease fertility instead of just doing it.   I'm not trying to scare you but you may want to insist on proper testing before taking that Clomid, which includes an SA for your husband....

  • I thought about buying a over the counter test and check it our selfs. I am seeing a RE here and with my past we decided to try this first.

No, the over the counter test will not tell you what you need.  You need sperm count, motility and morphology.  An OTC test will not tell you any of those things.  An SA means not only how many swimmers are there are, but also if they are moving properly and shaped right.     There is also a huge percentage of infertile couples in which there are issues with both partners.   I've never heard of an RE who does not fully test before treatment, but in your place I would insist on it.   An SA is cheap and can save you a lot of time and expense by knowing the whole picture.

  • I agree with @GoldenKeys. You really shouldn't take clomid before testing. If your tubes and everything aren't even open, then what's the point because you won't be able to release an egg. And if DH's sperm isn't good even if you do release an egg, you won't get pregnant. You might be getting ready to take drugs that may not even help anything. I'd definitely ask for testing first. Most REs won't start anything until you've had blood work, an HSG, and DH has had a SA.

  • I haven't started testing yet, so no experience with clomid, but there is a poster on TTGP (@theborg7of9) who talks about clomid based on her own experience as well as what she has seen on TB over the years. I highly recommend going over to TTGP and searching for clomid to find those posts.

  • My tubes were open about two months ago when they went in and did my two ultrasounds. They said that they would just re check if needed if this does not work. But from how the pictures looked I still have some small cysts and such but not like it was before my last laproscopy.

I'm confused, last month you were still seeing an OB according to your post history.   I think that you might be confusing regular ultrasounds with an HSG (an ultrasound with dye injected into your uterus).   A regular ultrasound will not tell you if your tubes are open.
