my baby is 4m just had his check up visit with vaccines and he weighs 20 pounds. I was told he is weighing too much for his age and I should cut back feedings. Doctor suggested two containers of puréed fruits or vegetables a day with 4 either 6 or 7 ounce bottles a day. Before I was feeding him 5 bottles of 8oz a day. He seemed hungry so I would feed him. Not sure if that's the right thing to give so much baby food and cut back on formula. Or if he is receiving enough formula. Before he would drink about 40oz a day of formula and now after the doctors recommendations I give only 28oz a day with two baby food containers. I'm not even sure what is the recommended amount of formula a day for this age.
Re: 4m old weight
I always offer the formula first since it has more of what baby needs and then if she's not satisfied I offer baby food. If your baby is still hungry then offer a little more formula afterwards. Some babies need more than others.
I developed preeclampsia which is what lead to early delivery and his small size. Very happy with his weight gain!
