OOT wedding

My cousin is getting married next weekend about 6 hours from home and I will be 36 weeks with my third. Obviously I will ask my doctor next week and if she says no that is that, but assuming she says I can go, would you go?

Both babies so far have come around EDD (three days late and one day early), so no history of early babies. I'm not doing cervical checks because they mean nothing and just open up the possibility of infection.

I'm so tired and have to pee every 10 min so a road trip would be annoying, but not the end of the world. She was in my wedding so we are close and I feel like I need to be there (but if my dr said no I would be pretty ok with that).

Wwyd?

Re: OOT wedding

  • It really depends on how close you are to your cousin. If you're close and the doc says yes then in all honesty I'd suck it up and do it, personally, because if the roles were reversed you'd still want HER there. But... doctor trumps all so it's up to them, really.

  • Are there hospitals nearby, just in case? If so, and your Dr clears you, it would be nice to make the effort for your cousin.
  • 6 hour drive? Ick....I am barely comfy on the 5 min trip to the OB anymore. I wouldn't go. I was invited to a wedding 2 hours away at the end of the month, and I used too pregnant as an excuse. Plus the wedding starts at 6:30...Like, really? That's past my dinnertime!

  • It's the 6 hour drive that would get me I think. I powered through my cousin's wedding at 36 weeks with my first, but it was only a 2 hour drive, and we stayed at my parents house, which was about 15 minutes away. It wasn't the most fun wedding I've been too, but there was a fill-to-order cannoli bar, so that made a pregnant lady happy.

I have a similar decision/issue going on too, my husband's cousin is getting married about 2 1/2ish hours away, at a summer camp in the middle of the woods, on 9/26, and I'm due 10/1. My husband keeps telling everyone in his family we're going ... I on the other hand, have no intention!

  • I wouldn't go. We went on vacation about 6 hours away a little over a month ago (so I was about 31 weeks) and the ride sucked. We stopped a lot but still wicked uncomfortable and I definitely would not want to do it now (36 weeks). If I were the bride I would totally understand.
  • Yes tons of hospitals (metro area)
  • We went on a 4 hour road trip when I was 32 weeks and the ride was super duper uncomfortable. If I could sleep in the car it wouldn't be a huge deal but my girls won't let me sleep while sh drives
  • Not me. We had been doing the wedding thing all summer and I had back-to-back out of town weddings that we flew to when I was 32 and 33 weeks. I was happy to stop traveling by my 34th week. We did have a couple of out-of-town weddings (one was DH's cousin) in October that we had to turn down. There's a friend's wedding over an hour away just 10 days before my due date that we're not going to. It's just too close, and I'd rather stay close to home until the baby comes.
  • I wanted to go to a wedding in Ashville at the beginning of this month, but my Ob said that I would need to stop and stretch my legs every 30 - 45 minutes! I decided that was not at all reasonable for me. I do have some small additional risk for blood clots, so I assume that you wouldn't have to stop that often. However, I was only 32 weeks at the time I would have been leaving!
  • If my doctor didn't have concerns, I would go.

Especially since she was in your wedding and you are close, and the fact that there are lots of hospitals nearby.

  • I would not go.
