Jury duty and pregnant! Help

I have been drawn as a juror. Sitting here hoping that they won't pick me. Gee whiz! How do I get out of this because I am seriously nauseous.

It's your civic duty. Sorry! Although if you answer questions a certain way (demonstrating bias, etc.), you're more likely to get off the hook.

Depending on the case type, bringing up you're pregnant might actually make you more desirable. I was picked for a jury when DD was 3 months old and I was pumping. They'll let you take whatever breaks necessary. There was a girl that was 8 months pregnant that was picked for my jury as well. They actually picked a lot of mothers because the prosecution was hoping we would make a decision based on emotions rather than facts

I'd do jury duty now and later on down the line. I think I'd be fine sitting there and listening to a story or two.

That lawyer was the stereotypical slime ball ambulance chaser. It was a ridiculous case that dragged out for four days. He lost on all counts

Unless you have a medical reason to not be able to do it like bed rest I don't see why pregnancy is an excuse to not do jury duty. Sorry.

In some states you can have your doctor send a note medically disqualifying you. Of course, this varies by state and you would have to talk to your doctor.

I've always wanted to be on a jury, seems so intersting!

You should be able to request a delay in your jury duty dates. When i got a summons for jury duty a couple years ago the letter had dates listed that i was drawn for but also had information on how to request to postpone those dates for at least 6 months. Of course, if youve already submitted your information accepting the summons and the dates assigned im not sure theres much else you can do. Like said above some states allow a dr's note to dismiss you from the responsibility. (Also some states will accept a dr's note to excuse a breastfeeding mom within one year of their baby's delivery)

I got chosen for Grand Jury when I was like 27 weeks pregnant with twins.... grand jury here meets every month for 6 months so they wouldn't let me do it because who knew if I would have to miss or quit.
my mama did it about a year later and LOVED IT

If you're nauseated how can you focus? Are they going to wait until you throw up on the floor or yourself? Rude. Id get a drs note.

I'm sorry I just don't understand why anybody thinks it's better to delay 6 months when you either are about to pop or have a newborn rather than just get it out of the way now.
