Clinique is good. I'm currently using Bobbi Brown, the skin foundation stick and bronzing powder are my go to products. I tried Bare Minerals back in the day and my skin did not react well to their products.
Clinique Redness Solutions is a nice coverage, I think their acne solutions is similar. I'm about to try Maybelienne's new betterstay line, as I've heard it's similar for 1/3 of the price.
Bare Minerals Liquid Foundation is what I use. I would wash my brushes every other day and started to breakout like crazy. I switched to washing after every use and that was definitely 90% of the problem! Also by washing I mean spraying with a cleanser from Sephora lol.
I have very sensitive skin. I was using makeup forever HD foundation but stopped only because after using it for about 2 years my skin started getting oily. So I just started using Mac studio fix fluid. I love it and it's so much cheaper then the HD. I also use a beauty blender to apply and I wash it every time before/after use. I use cetaphil to cleanse my face. I don't use primer, I haven't found any that didn't make my face breakout. I mainly buy only sephora or Mac products.
The smashbox bb cream has a medium coverage, and then I use a smashbox loose powder on top and its overall is a really good coverage. It's the only thing that hasn't caused me to break out prior and during pregnancy. It's a bit pricey about 35$ each for bb cream and then powder from sephora but it's worth it to not break out every time I feel like "getting pretty"
-I was using a drug store bb cream trying to use it up during the 1st trimester and was getting horrible cystic acne on my jaw line and it's been gone since I stopped using it and only use the smash box one now.
I really like Origins for foundation. I use their "Stay Tuned Balanced" foundation and it has pretty good coverage on my acne prone skin without looking too thick or cake-y. You can find them in some Macy's kind of like Clinique or other higher end beauty companies. They also sometimes have individual stores.
@AudriannaMaria I clean my brushes quite frequently and that helps! Maybe I'll start cleaning them daily too.
@Latina211508 I want to try Mac but I'm scared too lol
Thank you ladies for all your suggestions and letting me know what's working for you! I think I'll be making a trip to Sephora today to check out some foundations.
I use Olay CC cream because it's color correcting, but not a heavy foundation. I think of it more like a tinted moisturizer. Then I use a loose powder to help it set. It's made my skin soooo much healthier. I love it.
I use Tarte amazonian clay full coverage foundation because I get acne (unrelated to pregnancy, because I have always had it). I wanted something thicker that would give full coverage but not suffocate my face, and I really like it. I apply it with a big fluffy foundation brush for a lighter blend, and use the maracuja creaseless concealer with it. I really like it, but it is in the pricey side too, though I've found it is cheaper at Beauty Brands than at Sephora.
Do you have a good skincare? Your foundation will wear better with a good regimine. I use body shop tea tree primer, Clinique perfectly real fnd or Clinique bb cream, and Clinique perf real powder (or Clinique almost powder).
if you have oily skin and want more of a matte finish- don't use a cc cream. cc will add moisture (even though a lot are oil free- cc tends to add a glow your skin) vs BB which gives matte finish
I would go to Ulta and try some different ones on your face. I did use hard candy glamoflauge from Walmart for full coverage though. I also recommend a pressed powder to help with oil.
I'm a makeup artist, and I use Tarte's Amazonian Clay foundation on just about all my clients. I call it the 'Traveling Pants' foundation: it looks good on everyone, has medium-to-full buildable coverage, and doesn't make even my most sensitive clients' skin angry. I highly recommend it!
I use Almay clear complexion foundation with the matching powder. Wears well for the 15 hours between putting it on, working all day and coming home. Plus, it's one of the few foundations that match my pale Irish skin. As a PP said, good skin care greatly impacts how well make-up is worn. I use Cetaphil facial cleanser and facial lotion before bed. This works for me and if I deviate products my face goes crazy.
I agree 100% about skin care.. I use a glyctone cleanser, recommended by my dermatologist and cerave moisturizer. I have acne prone skin and pregnancy has flared up the hormonal acne unfortunately.
@zavala1215 yes, I was quite nervous to try a new foundation. But I got a perfect color match and surprisingly my face is clear. Also it didn't dry out my skin which is also a common issue for me.
For every day use I use covergirl 3 in 1 foundation. Estee lauder double wear for bigger occasions. I have trouble with acne and have had good luck with those two.
As a former Mary Kay lady, I use some of their matte liquid foundation with foundation primer underneath. I also switch back and forth to Clinique oil control matte liquid foundation. The best coverage you are going to get is by using a foundation primer underneath your foundation. 1. It can change the finish and coverage look of your foundation. 2. Some have added protection of sun screen in them. 3. It makes you use less of your foundation to get the coverage you need.
Best advice I've gotten: find a Sephora and ask for samples of foundation primer and tell the sales clerk what you want out of your make up as far as coverage. They can give you 2-3 samples of just about anything when you go to the store. Good way to try at home before you commit to purchasing a $20-30 tiny bottle of something.
I use Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. It's very lightweight and doesn't clog pores. Pregnancy makes skin more sensitive and I find this TM keeps acne at bay, plus shortens my morning regime. I know it won't give good coverage, so I make sure having a good skin care. SK-II Treatment Essence before bed really makes my skin a great base for any foundation!
I would call a Mary Kay lady near you. You can go to the website and search one. You can try our products before you buy... I am a consultant. I have several teenagers and 2 adults with bad hormonal acne and theirs improved with skin care. But mineral foundation can give you full coverage if you use 3 layers! But they use full coverage foundation! Except 1 teen uses mineral powder! I think u can do the same with Any mall counter retailer...
It's the best and EASIEST thing I've ever used and I've tried a lot. It goes on in a minute, just like a lotion. I give it a little time to set, usually while I brush my hair. Set with a little powder and done. My skin looks 1,000x better with no effort. I swipe on some mascara and that's it.
Urban decay naked skin. It has helped my skin so much and doesn't look thick and fake. Bare minerals made my skin worse. Just remember to exfoliate. It will help to get rid of the excess oil causing the acne.
Urban Decay Naked Skin- I love it! I tend to have dry skin (though I haven't during pregnancy), and my best friend has oily skin...we both use this foundation and love it. Seems to do what it needs to for your skin. I get many compliments on my skin too! It also is a lot healthier than most products out there!
I use Lorac Porfection Primer, Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation (great coverage for my combo skin and has never made me break out), and Bare Minerals Mineral Veil to set everything. I use a Neutrogena concealer for blemishes if one pops up. I also use MAC Studio FX compact powder before the Bare Minerals loose powder if I'm not in a rush. I kind of love make-up if you can't tell!! I've tried countless different primers and foundations from department stores, Ulta, and Sephora and the above is my magic combo for flawless looking skin without causing it to break out. >:D< The biggest positive change in my skin occurred when I started using my Clarisonic Mia 2 with the deep pore brush head every night in the shower. The texture of my skin completely changed and I have not skipped a day in using it in 2 years. My skin was amazing when I was using a 0.5% Retinol treatment nightly prescribed by my dermatologist, but alas that is forbidden during pregnancy. [-X
I usually just wear a bb cream but when I have hormonally induced breakouts I like the coverage and portability of a foundation stick. Mines the brand of the makeup studio that did my wedding makeup so that won't help you unless you're from SE MI but I've heard great things about Bobbi brown!
Re: What foundation/makeup are you ladies using? - Troublesome skin
