Dr won't give me bc

Im 11 weeks pp, I nursed for 5 weeks, after that I pumped and bottle fed for 2 weeks. When he was 7 weeks I stopped breastfeeding.... I only pumped for about a week after that to release milk since my breast got huge and they were painful. I saw my obgyn on Wednesday for a follow up to check my incision (c section) and to talk about bc. Well he told me he won't prescribe me bc until I get my period. :-S

my question is how long after BFing did you get your period?

    That is super weird, this is my third baby and every PP check up I've been offered birth control and I hadn't started my period yet. They waited to insert an IUD until my period but the minipill was prescribed immediately.

    I got the Depo shot on the 11th @ my 6 week appointment & have not had a period. Originally I was going mini-pill but changed my mind. Either way, my docs planned to put me on something & there was never discussion about my period needing to have started already

    I'm 12 weeks pp, stopped breastfeeding 3 weeks ago, I still haven't had a period.

    I was told I had to wait until I started my period. I didn't question it, I trust my doctor. Maybe you should call and talk to a nurse and ask why.

    There was never anything mentioned at my check up about my period. I stopped breast feeding 2 weeks ago but my Dr. prescriped the pill right away. Although my awkward conversation with the pharmacist we talked about it. I have never taking any kind of BC and so the pharmacist said ok do you know when you're supposed to take it, I gave him a blank stare so he then says well when was your last period... another blank stare and then he looked shocked like "this lady doesn't know when she had her period" So i quickly said Oh! I just had a baby a few weeks ago. Pharm looked relieved and then said the pill will re-establish my cycle and to start taking it immediately.

    Definitely talk to the doctor. That does not make sense as you can get pregnant before your period returns. Mine started bc at 4 weeks.

    Mine tried the same thing and said it was because he didn't want to disrupt my cycles. Luckily for me, I found out a week later that I could get a tubal with no out of pocket with my insurance so that's the route I'm going.

    I'm getting my iud placed in a couple weeks. My doctor waits until 12 weeks pp to put them in. But I've never heard of waiting until you start your period.

    I'm 10 weeks pp, EBF and got my IUD today. My last period was September 2014..
