Asthma And Allergies

Anyone else suffering from terrible allergies and their asthma? Mine sent me to to ER the other day! New inhaler/steroids and a daily allergy med. took a couple of days but I'm feeling better. Just have to be easy on myself or I instantly get beyond short of breath, wheezing, etc... Doesn't help with my growing munchkin compressing everything!

Re: Asthma And Allergies

  • Me!! I noticed the shortness of breath really early on and it's only getting worse now that he's really starting to grow in there. And I feel like it's a lose-lose with my inhaler. If I don't use it, I can't breathe, but if I do use it, my heart feels like it's going to pound out of my chest (much more than it did in pre-preg days)!

  • Mine started acting up at the end of July. I take Flonase and Zyrtec daily. And start my flutixasone inhaler regiment when I feel myself going down hill health wise
  • Luckily my asthma is pretty mild and only bothers me when I've got some sort of other virus/illness going on. But my allergies are always a mess. I've been on a combination of Singulair and Zyrtec for over 5 years. Singulair helps with both asthma and allergies. The combination works for me and my OB sees no problem with me being on them (I took them through my entire first pregnancy)

@mandijane423 @ByeByeSpotts @BarrettJ89 yes!!!!! I've had asthma my whole life. All the meds except for the albuterol rescue inhaler, singular, advair discus and Allegra seem to work the last few years! Now I've been on the Advair HFA Acuator and Zyrtec as well and it's doing wonders!!! Yep the albuterol inhaler seemed to make it worse and not help at all! Thanks! :) knew I wasn't the only one out there. Pregnancy definitely changed it!
  • I've been on the advair diskus for 13+ years and only need to use my albuterol when I'm sick or exercise.
  • I was just diagnosed with allergy induced asthma a year ago and only have the albuterol inhaler and try to take nasacort and zyrtec. But I've had bronchitis twice this pregnancy and yesterday the doctor had me start on a short burst of oral prednisone because the infection is better but the inflammation is not. She also have me singulair which I've been wanting to try but hadn't yet. I'm a little nervous about the steroids but I'm just following the doctors advice of this benefit outweighs the risk. Anyone had to take any oral steroids this pregnancy yet?
  • Me!! Been completely out of breath lately and it's hard to deal with since I haven't really been prone to attacks in years. I always keep an inhaler just in case but I think a combination of the rainy/humid weather where I live combined with growing baby is affecting it big time. I'm only 23 weeks, can't imagine 10 weeks from now when this little grapefruit is double the size!
  • I had an asthma attack from vacuuming if that tells you anything. ;-) I've noticed being short of breath since 5-6 weeks so I'm not looking forward to my lungs being squished more. And allergies are definitely worse. Hopefully once winter hits it'll calm down for all of us a bit. Not having the humidity of summer is already helping with my asthma.

Hopefully it does ease up by winter (even though we'll be pretty much done with this pregnancy haha. The season, humidity, rain, and pregnancy has definitely had an impact. Enough to where I have completely switched Meds. I have the Advair inhaler that is a steroid and once received and prescribed I have to now rinse my mouth/brush my teeth because it is a steroid.
