There are times when I am holding him and readjusting and I accidentally scratch him with my fingernail or my wedding ring. He starts screaming in pain and I just feel awful!! I don't want him to associate me with pain, but I don't know how to prevent these instances because they are just random accidents. Does this happen to anyone else?

My friend's father has a saying, "Don't worry if you break 'em, you can always make more."
It was so tiny, didn't even leave a red mark. Made me feel like SHIT!

My 2 year old was climbing up the cement steps of my friend's front porch and suddenly started to fall backwards off the top one. I was behind her and had a bag in one hand, I reached out automatically to try to catch her and somehow SLAPPED her on the face so hard as my hand came up to grab her. I did catch her from falling but I felt horrible and almost cried. Obviously it was good she didn't crack her head open but I still felt bad.
Also, once when she was crying and my DH was holding her on his lap, my dog tried to jump on her and scratched her on the leg. She didn't like that at all! The dog was just trying to comfort her because he hates it when she cries.
Anyway, we all have those moments.... babies aren't exactly made of glass and as long as these moments are few and far between and not intentional, I think we'll all be OK.
I have totally done this with my older kids with jackets and sweaters! So far so good and haven't done it with baby yet!
@jerseygirl227 how scary! I'm constantly checking LO's hands and feet for hair tourniquets because he is constantly pulling out my hair! I never thought that the carrier could be too tight on hands and feet!
