My LO went a day and a half before pooping....unfortunately we just had to wait it out! He's EBF as well. My sister in law said her daughter went 5 days without pooping!!! Her doctor suggested probiotics and pear juice....I have no clue how all doctors feel about that though!

  • Well at least I know he isn't the only one not pooping , I just feel so bad :(
  • My first kid went 14 days without pooping when he was 3 months old. EBF and our dr just said to wait it out unless he seemed uncomfortable. He didn't. We just played hot potato with him wondering who would get the poo. Result? I did!
It was so big, he pooped MY pants and his.
  • My 6 week old will go a couple days without pooping, but she never acts like it bothers her. When she does seem like she needs to poop I just lay her over my legs and rub her back. It makes her tummy feel better and she usually will fall asleep like that.
  • Mine is EBF and goes like once a week! Dr said its fine but can give her 1/2 ounce prune juice. Tried it a bit ago and she still didn't poop.
  • Oh I dread that! My LO seems unsatisfied with just once a day
  • My LO goes every 4-7 days. A huge benefit of breastfeeding if you ask me lol. He does get at least 1 bottle of formula a day so Dr said not to worry unless it's over a week. EBF babies pretty much use all of the nutrients in the milk so they typically don't poop as often as formula fed babies. As long as they are passing gas and their stomach is not distended or hard they are fine.
  • My ds went 9 days without pooping after we brought him home from the hospital. Now he goes every couple of days. Like pp post said as long as they are passing gas and stomach isn't hard it should be fine.
  • How old is your LO? I'm assuming at least a month. If that's the case I'm sticking with no worries.
  • He's two months old ! @randa923
  • It's normal for them not to poop everyday :) but you can always try actual stimulation, so you can put petroleum jelly on your finger and just rub it on your baby's butt hole, Miralax, or doing leg stretches. That's what my doctor said anyways :)
  • @haayitstayy at two months definitely not something to worry about in an EBF (or even mostly breastfed) baby.
  • Mine only goes 2 times a week. The doctor is ok with that as long as it's mushy. In the beginning when he had jaundice and didn't go for a week, his dr had me give him a glycerin suppository.

DD only goes once a day, sometimes once every couple of days. I always know when we are getting close because she gets super fidgety and uncomfortable. After she has her pooplosion which sometimes will go up her back into her hair if I don't catch it and change her straight away, she is the happiest babe Iv seen. And sleeps like an angel :x
    I wouldn't worry :)
  • My LO didn't poop for two days and was miserable. He would only poop a lil turd and it wasn't the softest. I felt so bad bc he would cry when he tried and nothing came out. He was constipated for the first time. He poops everyday and it's always mushy. Since it was two days and basically nothing and he was clearly uncomfortable I gave him brown sugar water. Dr said give him 2oz of water(warmed) with a teaspoon of brown sugar and it will help them go. Believe me it did bc the next day ge filled 3 diapers back to his normal mushy poop
  • Mine has started going every other day instead of everyday and he seems uncomfortable waiting that long. Doctor says it's fine but if my LO is uncomfortable I'm going to try to find a remedy. I have used the windi once for his gas and that did alleviate his discomfort but did not make him go.
  • My DS has started to only poop once per day. He spent the afternoon with my MIL and she made a point of telling me that he didn't poop. I explained that it's normal and even checked with his pediatrician. She decides to tell me that it's not normal and how can I not be concerned (insinuating that I am a bad mom and don't care about my baby's health!) ugh so annoying...
  • We're on day 4 now...LO seems like he's getting ready relieve himself! I have a girlfriend watching him tonight while I'm at work, so I did warn her of the impending blowout! He's had a very dirty diaper every three or four days pretty consistently lately.
