Babies: 0 - 3 Months

When did you start working out?

I'm curious, when did you start working out? Did you wait until your check up or start back when you felt good enough to do it? I'm not talking about just walking, I mean like full on workout routines. DD is going to be 4 weeks on Saturday and I feel better than I did before I got pregnant. I'd really like to get back to my Beachbody routine. I'm not really bleeding at this point, it's barely even spotting anymore. My whopping 3 stitches are long gone. Is it ok to start up?

With my first I was back to work as a CNA at 8 weeks, so I didnt need to work out because I was running constantly. Thoughts?

  • Wait until you get cleared. Starting back without being fully healed is a bad idea.

  • Wait until you see your doctor. Especially for a workout like beach body. Remember all the ligaments in your abdomen were stretched out during pregnancy and everything needs to shrink back down. An intense workout could cause the uterus or bladder to drop. I started with postnatal yoga @ 6 days pp and that has been making me feel better.
  • Last time I started walking a couple miles at 2wks and then started p90x when I got cleared at 6wks. This time my incision is not healing well so I haven't done anything and it's driving me crazy.

  • Anything other than walking should be avoided until you are medically cleared.  You can feel fine but not be completely healed, and more strenuous exercise can make it worse.
  • I started the 21 day fix before I got cleared. I took it easy the first couple of workouts and since I felt fine I went full out. I would just listen to your body.
  • I'm not doing a darn thing till I'm cleared. The last thing that I need is an infection or open incision. I'm gonna sit on my butt and heal and soak up the time to heal. :-)
