My OB has given my husband a cup and an order, but no directions. I know what he needs to do...but does he remain abstinent for a few days?

    No.  Do what you normally do if this is the first SA.   NO LUBE, no saliva, no lotion of any kind, which will kill the swimmers and possibly get him an incorrect MFI diagnosis.   Get the cup to them within a half hour, write the time that he did the deed down on a piece of tape and put it on top.   Keep the cup warm, meaning close to his body under his shirt or between your boobs on the way to the lab.   You're welcome.

    By the way, an RE or a urologist might be better persons to be doing the testing, and would never make the mistake of not giving instructions for an SA

    My hubby was told to abstain from sex/masturbation for 3 days prior.
    Me: 31  DH: 32  Dx: Unexplained
    TTC #1 off and on since 2010
    11/15 - Clomid + TI = BFN
    12/15 - Clomid + TI = BFN
    1/16 - Clomid + IUI = BFN
    2/16 - Clomid + IUI = BFN
    4/16 - Follistim + IUI = BFN
    5/16 - 11/16 - Life / WTFing / Pity Party / Saving $
    1/17 - IVF #1 (Fresh Transfer / 6 frosties) = BFN
    3/17 - FET.... BFP! EDD 11/29

    See he was told before by my old OB that he had low volume, density, and motility. He seen a urologist and they said they've seen it done with less - no worries.
    My new OB has been fabulous and I really trust her and she wants labs on him. I just couldn't remember the protocol.
    They just did a successful HSG on me after telling me last year I was completely blocked. They have started me on Clomid...and are saying to have sex every other day after the last Clomid. I thought maybe have him wait two days to do the SA?

    Honestly, it would be your best option to call your doctor and ask for instructions.

    TTC since 5/14
    Unexplained with (controlled) hypothyroidism and suspected ovulatory dysfunction (but, I do ovulate on my own)
    Clomid 50 mg 3/15 (unmonitored) - BFN
    Clomid 50 mg + metformin 4/15 (unmonitored) - BFN 
    First RE appt. 5/15; Natural cycle 5/15 monitored with 2 mature follicles and Pregnyl Trigger (full dose) + prometrium - BFN
    6/15 HSG - clear tubes & normal uterus; great PCT test results
    TI - 100 mg Clomid + prometrium (AM & PM) + vaginal estrace (AM & PM) 6-7/15 (monitored) --> no additional response and thinned lining - BFN
    TI - Injectables (follistim + Gonal-F, Ganirelix, & 1/2 dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 9/15 --> 3-7 mature follicles (3 definites and 4+ that could have matured due to trigger) @ O -->BFN + 5 large cysts
    BC for 2 weeks due to cysts
    TI - Injectables (Gonal-F, Ganirelix & full dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 10/15 --> 1 mature follicle --> BFN 
    TI - Last attempt at injectables (Gonal-F, Ganirelix & 1/2 dose Pregnyl) + crinone (AM only) + vaginal estrace (AM & PM) 11/15 --> 3-4 mature follicles --> BFP!! 11/27/15 @ 13dpo (shockingly, actually waited until then to test)

    Beta #1 @ 16dpo (11/30/15) = 1,075
    Beta #2 @ 19dpo (12/3/15) = 3,150
    One baby: Saw heartbeat @ 5w5d (114 bpm; baby measuring 2.3mm)
