I started pumping every feeding the first couple weeks.and it went fine. Pumping hurt more than her feeding. So I slowly have stopped. But I am trying to start again. I was getting about 4 to 6 oz when I pumped now I can barley get any milk. Less than one oz. I can message and squeeze but it starts to go and then it stops. Is it because I'm not used to pumping? My daughter is gaining weight like crazy so I know she is getting more than one oz per side.
Re: pumping problem
I'm the same way where I feel like I'm not getting as full as I was a few weeks ago. I read an article on the LLL site and it said not to be concerned if that happens. It doesn't necessarily mean that your supply is drying up. It just means that your body has learned exactly what it needs to produce for your baby. As long as baby is satisfied and gaining weight properly, your supply is probably fine. I would keep pumping (once you figure out the pain thing) and it will trick your body into thinking baby needs more.
Also like PP said you may want to try a different size shield.
