Clomid

ive completed two rounds of provera and started AF today! Called my RE to let them know-whom I've only did the consultation to get Provera. I missed the nurses call back. She did state she was calling in Clomid 50mg to start taking Friday! She left at noon, so, I didn't get to speak to her. She said she would call back tomorrow. I would love to know how others take this drug and what side effects, etc. you've had from it? I have to be in a wedding Saturday and I'm usually an anxiety ball! The provera made me swell!

    It's one of the main first-line drugs that REs offer.  I was on Letrozole (cousin to Clomid) and didn't have side effects.  I think it's quite common to make you kinda hormonal.  I've heard the term "clomid-crazies".  Good luck!!

    Im on my first cycle with clomid and today is day 3. My dr told me to take it at night, so thats what i've been doing.
    I haven't had any side effect yet

    Ive done 2 rounds so far and have not noticed significant side effects, my husband says I am a bit moodier. I do have anxiety as well and only noticed a slight elevation in it while on the clomid.

    Married May 2009, TTC since November 2012 (Together since 2006 ish - had my eyes on him since 2001)
    Me: 32 (33 in May), Him: 37 (January)

    DX: Me: High Prolactin, Possible Autoimmune Disease Issues, though RE not concerned (?)  New RE has a plan!!
           Him: Minor Varicocele, low morphology, slightly low count

    History:

    Beta 5/9/2016 BFP!!
    Embryo transfer scheduled for April 28, 2016 and beta test May 9, 2016 (day after Mother's Day!)
    Transfer Meds include: Lupron Depot (4/1), Minivelle Patch (every 3rd day), Estradiol (3x daily), Amoxicillin, Progesterone in Oil, Methylprednisonlone. Lovenox and baby asprin added after transfer. 

    3/22/16 - Sono Saline ultrasound cyst to be aspirated on 4/1/16 if not cleared up by 3/29 US - It cleared on its own
    Retrieval 3/4/16 - 26 eggs retrieved, 23 mature, 20 fertilized, 14 embryos currently frozen
    Starting IVF Stims on +/- Feb 22, 2016
    HSG scheduled for 1-26-16 - All clear "beautiful uterus" (though inverted)

    Switched clinics and now prepping for IVF in February / March

    Fourth IUI -  CD3-7 100 Clomid w/ Ovidrel Trigger - December, 2015 - BFN
    Third IUI -  CD3-7 100 Clomid w/ Ovidrel Trigger - November, 2015 - BFN
    Second IUI - CD3-7 100 Clomid w/ Ovidrel Trigger - September, 2015 - BFN
    Started Prolactin Medication October 15 - Levels quickly regulated to with in normal range
    First IUI - CD3-7 100 Clomid w/ Ovidrel Trigger - August, 2015 - BFN
    After no BFPs (ever) First RE/Urologist visit in Feb 2015
    HSG w/ OB, 2014 = all clear
    Trying to conceive since November 2012

    I've only taken it for 1 cycle, but I didn't notice any changes (and hubby didn't mention me being any crazier than usual!)

    you are all awesome!! Make me feel so much better!! I know I will find out tomorrow but does your doc monitor you at all while taking your first round? Blood work?

    I've only taken clomid when I did the clomid challenge.  I didn't really have any side effects.  For it they did day 3, day 7, and day 21 bw

    I took Clomid for three cycles. I didn't have side effects until the second cycle when my moodiness increased. Third cycle was awful with moodiness and night sweats. My RE said that the Clomid stays in your system for up to 6 weeks so repeated cycles builds on itself. I switched to Letrozole for my 4th medicated cycle. No side effects for me on the Letrozole.

    I took Clomid and got pregnant on the first round with my daughter.  In hindsight, my RE says I was very, very lucky.  It made me moody / rage-y, gave me hot flashes and headaches.  And ovulation was kind of painful.  But it was totally worth it! :)

    Your RE should monitor you with ultrasound to make sure you don't have too many follicles and that your lining isn't too thin.  Though my lining was SUPER thin, my little one stuck.

    Clomid 50 mg 3/15 (unmonitored) - BFN
    Clomid 50 mg + metformin 4/15 (unmonitored) - BFN 
    First RE appt. 5/15; Natural cycle 5/15 monitored with 2 mature follicles and Pregnyl Trigger (full dose) + prometrium - BFN
    6/15 HSG - clear tubes & normal uterus; great PCT test results
    TI - 100 mg Clomid + prometrium (AM & PM) + vaginal estrace (AM & PM) 6-7/15 (monitored) --> no additional response and thinned lining - BFN
    TI - Injectables (follistim + Gonal-F, Ganirelix, & 1/2 dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 9/15 --> 3-7 mature follicles (3 definites and 4+ that could have matured due to trigger) @ O -->BFN + 5 large cysts
    BC for 2 weeks due to cysts
    TI - Injectables (Gonal-F, Ganirelix & full dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 10/15 --> 1 mature follicle --> BFN

    I was on my phone- so hopefully this one works! I started AF yesterday, however it's VERY light... Was heavy for about 8 hours then nothing then a little and now not much through the night? My RE is calling today to give me clomid instructions, but, I'm wondering if I'll even get to start now? :(

    @larnott That's frustrating! He'll likely still start you, though. My cycles have been so much lighter since beginning fertility treatments. It's been so confusing for me! I used to be heavy 2 days, medium 2 days and light/spotting about 2-3 days. Now, it's heavy 1 day, medium 1/2 day then spotting. I'll even have day 3 nothing then spotting day 4. So strange!

    @riveridgional that's exactly how my cycle is now and used to be a lot heavier. It's strange because if your lining is good, why would AF be so much lighter?

    I was wondering about that too. My normal period is 2 days of light flow that's it.  Last cycle, the follistim beefed up my lining substantially.  I was also on vaginal progesterone, so I should have been extra cushy (first time for both those).  I had the same usual 2 day period.  I would have thought I would have been bleeding for days.

    Yes! that is frustrating. Im barely dripping today- I don't get it? And this was after Provera for 5 days. I just talked to the RE nurse and she called me in Clomid (didn't tell me dosage) and told me to either take all 3 pills at once or to split them up? She didn't say for how many days, and made it sound like it was just for one day? I will get the script tonight, but, has anyone ever heard of just taking 3 pills for one day? Im so confused with all of this? She then sent me a lab form to draw a progesterone on the 7, 8 or 9th of October. She also told me to start having intercourse every other day...

    I'm so glad I'm not the only one!!

    @larnott did she maybe tell you to start on Day 3? How many pills you take would likely depend on your dose. When I was on 50mg, I took one a day for 5 days. On 100mg, I took 2 a day for 5 days. I took those at the same time. If you're going to be on 150 mg, then I guess taking 3 at once would make sense. To be safe, I recommend calling back and asking for clarification.

    ^^ Yeah I think it's what she meant.  Like your dose may be 150mg/day.  That's 3 - 50 mg pills.  So you can take all 3 together or space all out during the day.  The RX from the pharmacy should give you dosing instructions.  Like 3 pills a day for 5 days.

    Yes! I just grabbed it and it's 150mg/day 3-50mg tabs! She's that seem a bit much for the first time using it? I'm a little freaked out! I start tomorrow and have to go to a wedding on Saturday night. Will I be okay? I hate taking meds. I'm such a whimp! Lol abd did you all take at once or spread out? She said I could do either.

    Last month I was on 50 mg of Clomid and didn't really feel anything. This month I took 100 mg and had horrible cramps, headaches and mood swings. I now have brown discharge and not sure if it's from the Clomid or from the progesterone I was taking last cycle. It's only cd 11 so definitely not AF.

    I'm sure you'll be fine. I took mine at night around 9:30 or 10, so I would be able to sleep through any side effects. The only ones I had were occasional hot flashes and minor, minor cramping. I actually had fewer side effects on 100 than on 50 for some strange reason. I can't remember your history (we've had a lot of new people join us this month and I'm having trouble keeping up - sorry if you're not new here and I'm just forgetting). If you have PCOS or did not ovulate on your own, that's probably why re started you higher though I don't know that from any personal experience. I would trust your doctor. If it were me, I'd probably take them all at once at night unless your doctor told you otherwise. If your DH will be at the wedding with you, have him remind you to bring them with you and to set his phone alarm (if the time wont conflict with quiet portions of the wedding) as a reminder for you to take them. If you've told any friends who will be there or would feel comfortable, ask one of them to remind you to take medicine. Honestly, taking the meds is the only thing I would worry about re: the wedding! I freaked out before taking the first one as stories of people on boards I read (hadn't joined one at the time) freaked me out especially since I wasn't being monitored. Clomid really was nothing and my fears were unfounded. You can do it!!

    I didn't have any side effects with clomid (100 mg) in August but felt very bloated about a week and a half later.
