TTC after 35

New Girl

edited September 2015 in TTC after 35
Hi everyone! So I'm new, and have been a little hesitant to post just because I don't want to drive myself crazy with the whole TTC thing, but I have so many friends in the same boat as me, and after ready many of tour posts, it's comforting to know I'm not alone.

My husband and I have been together for 7 years now. We were both in the Navy and didn't want to have kids while we were active duty. We both have also been married before and honestly just wanted to make sure everything worked out!

Prior D&C due to blighted ovum 2003

Re: New Girl

  • Weird... cut my message off in an awkward spot, and posted twice! Sorry, moderator!  :)

Anyway... here's the rest of my message:

So now we have been discussing having children, since we are both out of them military and have bought a house here in San Diego.

At 22, I went in for my 10 week ultrasound at the Naval hospital and was found that I had a blighted ovum, had to wait 2 weeks for a confirmation US and scheduled D&C the same day. I was young, alone (because my husband at the time was deployed) and I didn't have a choice but to deal with it and move on, as I was slated to deploy 3 months following the D&C. Never tried to have kids after that.

So here I am, 35 (36 in October) talking about getting pregnant! We have been temping and charting for 5 months now to no avail. We have also discussed adoption and fostering.

I have been off BCPs the entire time we've been together with no pregnancy so now I'm hoping charting helps. If not, I guess it's off to the doctor for us.

I look forward to getting to know some of you, and keeping my fingers crossed for some BFPs in the near future!!

  • Welcome!  It's funny, I just turned 37 and I don't feel like I'm that old!!  The OB makes me feel old, but the RE's office shrugs me off like I'm the youngest one there.  You are fine.  I'd make the appointment for bloodwork now, it may do the trick ;)
