I'm sorry to post another breastfeeding post but I really need some advice. I feel so alone in this so getting some advice from women going through this is needed! My son is 2weeks old and Breastfeeding has been hard since day 1. My nipples have taken such a beating. When my son was 1 week old we got his tongue clipped. The pain has not subsided. I cry several times a day from the pain. I get anxiety when I know he'll be waking up to eat soon. I saw a LC yesterday and his latch is not deep enough. I've tried so many things to get it deeper with no luck. My nipple always comes out looking pinched and flat. The LC suggested taking a 24-36 hour break and just pump. I started yesterday morning and still going. I'm only getting 2 oz total each pump. We tried the boob today but nipples cracked and bled and came out looking pinched again! I just don't know what to do.
Re: Another breastfeeding post
Keep your mind to it and I am sure you can have success.
I put him on my breast friend breast feeding pillow and have him flat, lean over and plop his breast in. Hope it helps. My so. Is a little over 2weeks also
good luck Mama, you got this!
Feed him like @heath3er suggested- it helps a ton and look up 'hands-on pumping' to get more milk out of your pumping sessions. Good luck mama!!!
What I have gotten to work for us is:
1. Catch her for a feeding before she's crying - it's less stress and her tongue is more likely to lay flat.
2. When she is excited/upset she starts flailing her arms around, so I pin her arms down in a swaddle.
3. When she opens her mouth, I try to ram as much as my nipple/areoles over her tongue and towards the back of her mouth, as I can.
4. Sometimes- I also have to kind of be positioned over her to make all of this work.
The other fun part is that due to her latch issues, she sounds like she's gulping milk, but must actually be gulping air when I Don't do the above, as 5 days after birth, she had lost a pound.. And the LC was baffled when we went for a weighted feeding and she only gained half an ounce in a half hour feeding.
Good luck!
