33 weeks measuring 37 weeks what now...

hi I know there's been other posts about this but not exactly the same, I was wondering what happens after my ultra sound ftm question I hope it doesn't seem dumb, my midwife told me when I'm giving birth she will be large and could dislocate her shoulder! I feel really bad! Isn't there ways they can prevent this from happening. I go for my ultrasound Monday and find out more after that but I have no idea, do they induce me or what??? :/ im nervous I don't want to hurt the baby while I'm giving birth

  • Are they giving you measurements based on your belly right now ? If so don't be worried at all your belly measurements don't usually mean anything at all !!! Both my pregnancies I measured on time, and the first time my son was 9.7 and ended up with shoulder dystocia, a broken left clavicle(collar bone) and neuropathy(nerve) damage to his left arm and neck.. This time I'm measuring right on time and the OB estimates him to be around the size of his brother. I got for an ultrasound on Tuesday to see how "big" he will be.
He also mentioned just because my first ended up with shoulder dystocia, doesn't mean this baby will be, it all depends on the baby and when he decides to turn him before birth, and his position in your pelvis. Don't panic !

  • Oh alright sounds a bit better, since every ultra sound she's been measuring 2 weeks In front and have been saying that to the midwifives, which they already know. But there also not going of my last period due date either, they are going off measurements from my 8 week scan, if they were to go off my period due date id only be two weeks ahead which doesn't really matter. So I'm wondering if they have there dates wrong.. Thanks for the insight though makes me feel a little better!!

I would discuss it further with your Dr. God knows what they are going by, and they can make mistakes too !
  • I'm measuring a week or so ahead so my Dr. Did an ultrasound and found that I have ALOT of extra amniotic fluid due to having GD. I having been doing weekly NST as well and our little one hates the monitor as well. Moves away from it constantly. Laying flat is so uncomfortable to say the least! Hope the last few weeks go by fast and smooth for you!
