Best Breast Pump

I am wondering if anyone can give me information on what brands of breast pumps they like/d the most.

Thanks!

  • I think the first step is to find out if your insurance covers one and if so, which ones are covered. Some insurance companies will only pay for one kind, others give you a choice.
However I do think there are a couple of posts about this already.
  • I hear that Medela Hospital Grade are excellent :)
  • My LC recommend the Spectra and that's the one I'm getting this time. I used an Ameda with my last 2.

So glad to hear this!! After doing a ton of research online (based on the approved breast pumps through my insurance) I settled on this one!
I'm glad to hear a real life LC recommend it.
OP that's what I recommend. Find out which ones are approved and start reading reviews and ratings. A pump that may work for me based on what I'll be doing with it may not work for you and your situation, so the best thing is to read other moms reviews and their pros and cons to see which one will work best for you.
  • I bought a Medela advanced double electric pump through my insurance and also rented an Ameda elite (hospital-grade) with DD. I liked the Ameda more (not surprisingly) because I got much better yield and it was really quiet. I would still recommend the Medela since a hospital-grade rental isn't an option for everyone. I will suggest that if you plan to pump, invest in the storage/feeding system that is compatible with your pump. I had the Medela bottles and it was awesome to pump directly into a bottle v. the transfer of milk to another container.
