I'm looking for a great not so expensive venu in DC to have my baby shower. Does anybody know of such place in the DC area? I would like to host my party in mid November & it's for about 40 people. Can someone please help!!!

Well honestly you should not be hosting your own baby shower. That's about the biggest breach of etiquette you can make.
While I agree with PPs that you should definitely NOT be hosting your own gift giving event, if you'll click on Local Resources at the top of the screen, that will help better than a bunch of women scattered around the globe.
*lurker on this board* I think it would be great to have a shower on Venus! I'm assuming it's a girl? If it was a boy, you'd obviously have it on Mars.
As PPs have said, it's really bad form to host your own shower because it's a gift giving event. You are literally inviting people to a party in your own honor and asking them to buy you stuff.
Now if you don't call it a shower, don't mention a registry or gifts AT ALL, you could still host a pre-baby party and not break etiquette. It could be a ladies luncheon or something fun.
***PSA: Etiquette matters because it deals with how you treat people. Here on the boards, TB users will be honest with if you your plans are going to be perceived as rude. Hopefully everyone here cares how their friends and family are treated***

I will echo PP. I can't help you with hosting your own shower because I believe it is tacky and a breach of etiquette. You need to wait until someone asks to host your shower and then let them decide the venue. Good luck.
