So I'm 35 weeks, started showing signs of preeclampsia 2 weeks ago, have developed very intense back pain, and my baby is laying sideways. Anyone else dealing with/have dealt with any of these problems? Any home remedies/solutions worked for you?
I hope you're not asking for home remedies for pre-e. That's not something to mess with. The only cure is to deliver the baby.
You should get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, and you can elevate your feet if the swelling gets bad, but if you have pre-e, you HAVE to follow your doctor's direction, and you'll probably need to deliver the baby soon.
As far as home remedies for the baby/back pain, you can check out spinningbabies.com, for tips on how to coax baby into a head down position. You might also try seeing a chiropractor for the back pain (and I've heard, though only anecdotally, that a visit to the chiro can help baby turn).
I had pre-e with my son and had a c-section, with a successful recovery and no further complications. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.
Definitely keep an eye on your pre-e symptoms. Like pp said, it is NOTHING to mess with. I delivered at 34w6d because of it. My urine protein levels were 170 the week before and they spiked to 1700, and was immediately induced. My blood pressure is still high now, but I'm on meds, and my doctor said I'll be weaned off them in a couple weeks.
What are the other things they look for for pre-e besides high BP? Mine has been slowly creeping up, and my hands are swollen today. But so are my feet, could be all the salt I had this weekend.
For back pain, My doctor said heating pads, rolling a tennis ball to massage it, warm baths, etc but that there is nothing much to do until you deliver to get rid of it. More about making it tolerable...
I have a question about pre-e!! I went to the hospital thinking my water broke (false alarm!) lol But when I went in, my usually great blood pressure was high. I could have been anxious? I'm not sure. And I don't know what my BP actually was at the time. But the nurse checked my urine and I had excessive amounts of protein in my urine, along with keystones, and sugar? I, naturally, worry about pre-e with high BP and high amounts of protein in my urine.... But no one else seems to be worried? They sent my urine in to be cultured checking for an infection but there was none..... Should I worry?!?! I go see my doctor tomorrow, and will bring it up to him. But just curious!
Thanks ladies!
Also, OP, good luck with all of the symptoms you are experiencing!! Praying for you and can't wait to hear about your sweet baby when you deliver!
Swelling, headache that won't go away, blurred vision and/or seeing "floaters" plus protein in urine are all signs of pre-e.
@FrozenMommy, if you are a lot of salt this weekend, that could make your BP higher and cause swelling. It could also be an early sign of pre-e, but your doc should be checking your urine for protein and that would be a more tell-tale sign.
@sarahewilliams118, definitely ask your doctor! That sounds like something they should be keeping an eye on.
Another tell tale symptom is upper right abdomen pain. Like in your liver area. Feels like heartburn but on your right side. Talk to your doctor if your swelling is super excessive, and doesn't go away when you put your feet up.
I dunno guys. Today I keep feeling like maybe I am having contractions. Like I have to poop, or vomit, and get tight. I have never had them other than in the hospital being induced with my first, so I don't really know what they would feel like.
