Maternity Photos

I searched but couldn't find anything on the board about anyone planning to have some taken. When are you thinking? I know different places say 30 ish weeks, but has anyone had them done later? I guess I want a record of how big I really got, anyone have thoughts? Also, who would you want to include? Obviously me and my husband, but what about grandparents?

I do maternity photos for couples

most couples go about it at 36 or 37 weeks to be on the safe side. I have had a few at 38.

I only did maternity photos with my third pregnancy. But it was last minute so I was 40 weeks. I wasn't that big though. It was only my husband and I. With this pregnancy I'm wanting to plan more and maybe around 8 months. I want to do ones with my husband and then ones with my 3 children. I personally would never to maternity photos with anyone else besides hubby/kids

I've got mine booked for December 20 which would put me at 36.5 weeks. It'll just be me and hubby. Maybe our fur baby just for fun. No other plans though.

We're considering doing them in December but unsure who with. I have several friends on FB that do them so ultimately it will depend on price and package. We do know we want to do the beach at sunset, though!

I did them with my first. It was me, my husband and our dog. I think it was about 36 weeks

We're doing ours around 33-34 weeks.. mainly just bc of wanting to get it done before the holidays and so I don't feel too huge

I was at 35 weeks with my first when we got pictures done. Our photographer was fantastic, she took some of just me and my big ol' belly, some with boyfriend and I, then some with both of us and his daughter (my stepdaughter).
I plan to do the same this time, plus obviously my son in the pictures and around the same time frame as with my son. I think they will be fun to compare. Plus, the time will match up perfectly to have her take my son's first birthday pictures at the same time.

I will be 29 weeks and feel like that is a good time because it's before I start to get miserable. I did it about a month earlier than that last time and they still turned out great.

I'll probably be around 33-34 weeks. I want to get them done early enough to use them for Christmas cards!

Is it weird that I have no desire to do this? I've intentionally avoided being in photos while pregnant so I can't imagine paying someone to take photos - I didn't even know this was a thing. I'm 30 but only a small handful of my friends have kids. Maybe it's more common in certain areas? I'm from NYC. What do you do with the photos after you take them? Are they given to people, displayed in your house or is it like more of a private thing that only you and your spouse look at?

@ChrissyD1203 most pics I've seen are more like couples photos or family pics, when the mom just happens to be preggo. Others are half naked bellies. I would think the belly shots are more personal and would not be in full display in their homes.
My friends gave me a maternity session for my bday, and I'll be doing it at 25w (as always I must add it's a triplet belly and freaking huge) at which point I will appear about 37w. Mine will basically be family pictures.

I am due jan 6th and this is my 2nd baby. I plan on taking pics as soon as the leaves start to change...which should be around the first part of November where I am. I will be around 31-32 weeks.

I wouldn't do professional photos but I have a friend who is an amatuer and does a lovely job, she will be doing my newborn photos so I would ask her.

thanks for the feedback, looks like anything goes in terms of how far along, which feels like it takes the pressure off to schedule at the 'right' time. I think we'll do ours mid Dec and we're just having an amateur photographer friend do them.

My main motivation for wanting them was going through some old pics with my mom the other weekend and spotting a few of her when she was pregnant with me. I loved seeing them but there were so few and she didn't know how far along she was in any of them. I'm thinkng I will like them to show to the kid when they are older.

If you are just wanting to show your child, take the weekly bump pics or something similar.
We take pics when I look like crap- IV fluids at home, in giant surgery gown prior to cerclage- document the whole experience for the sweet little ones lol
(I take a good pic whenever I am dressed up too...ahem..rarely these days)
