Tuesday Ticker Change -- 9/15

Good morning and happy Tuesday to those of you who change weeks today!

Week/fruit/comparison:

What went well this past week?

What has been the greatest challenge this past week?

GTKY: Do you have something that you might consider a "splurge" but that you'd really like to have for your LO when he/she arrives? If so, what is it?

  • Week/fruit/comparison: 34 weeks and a squash...I think

What went well this past week? Terbutaline and some time in the hospital helped me to keep baby boy inside and growing for a bit longer (for now)!

What has been the greatest challenge this past week? I've never had an issue like I did this last week with such intense contractions, 2 minutes apart and lasting for 45-60 seconds for hours, unless you count when I was in active labor with DD. At 33 weeks and 4 days, it scared the sh*t out of me. I know the end of pregnancy is tough, but it does have an end point and I want baby boy to get as much time inside as he needs to grow healthy, strong, and have proper brain development. I had pretty high anxiety about it yesterday, and I really just need to take it easy this week before I can get in with my personal OB on Thursday (she's out of town). I'm on modifications until then, so "resting and taking it easy" is my challenge now.

DH and I will be getting the double Bob stroller for our LOs (DD is 2). Other than that, I am going to buy two burp cloths like those we received for DD. They are personalized and classy, and I am the biggest weirdo for loving them so much. Burp cloths get gross and typically look ragged anyway, and I liked the quality and longevity of the ones I had! DS will just have two of this kind, but it's my "splurge" because they are about $9/piece. Livin' large ;)

What went well this past week? I've eaten well and have kept my blood sugar in a normal range

What has been the greatest challenge this past week? Finding motivation. My house needs cleaned and I have stuff to do for my shower this weekend and I have nomotivation.

GTKY: Do you have something that you might consider a "splurge" but that you'd really like to have for your LO when he/she arrives? If so, what is it? I'd really like to get a tula just because they are so cute. I doubt I will buy one though. I can't justify spending that much money for something that probably won't get used a ton.

    Week/fruit/comparison: 35 weeks, coconut.

What went well this past week? My blood pressure was back to normal levels after the previous week when it was high and they were concerned about pre-e.

What has been the greatest challenge this past week? The heat over the weekend brought my feet swelling back. It had finally gone away with the cooler temperatures, so it was hard to see it come back. I also think I am tearing up more about anything and everything. Yesterday's tears were about my friend's news (she is is 35weeks with twins) and has developed horrible carpal tunnel that she has to have surgery for before the twins are born if possible and also developed Bells Palsy in her face over the weekend. I just feel so badly for her - she has had a rough 8 months and it is only going to get harder until those babies are born.

GTKY: Do you have something that you might consider a "splurge" but that you'd really like to have for your LO when he/she arrives? At this point we have everything that we *need* or at least we think we do. So the splurge would be some artwork and decor for the walls of the nursery. They are freshly painted but blank since we are team Green and it would be nice to add some color to the room. I know this will come with time and that we won't hardly use the nursery at first, but when I send photos of it to friends/family/etc - it just seems so empty without things on the wall.

@LiveNLove44 - sounds like you have had a rough week. Thinking about you! PS - we have a BOB too, but only a single! :) I cannot wait to use it!

37 weeks and baby is a Wintermelon, whatever that is. I just saw W-melon and got super excited bc my 4 yr old keeps asking when the baby will be a Watermelon... No Watermelon yet:(

What went well this past week?
Sunday afternoon to now have gone very well. Good BP yesterday at the doctor and both of my kids have been in really good moods which makes life soooo much better. Also I went to see my grandma at her nursing home yesterday. She was having a really "good" day (dementia) so I was able to talk to her for about an hr, before she was tired out. She felt my belly and told me that she can tell he is 9 lb baby:) If this were my first baby I would be seriously freaking out bc she had 10 kids and KNOWS babies. That being said my other two were 5lbs 13 oz and 6lbs 1 oz so the chance of him being 9 lbs is pretty slim.

What has been the greatest challenge this past week?
Pretty much last Tues-Sun morning was just a crapstorm of dr.s appts, multiple blood draws, 24 hr urine catch, 3 hr hospital visit, multiple high BP's and having really severe abdomen pain. Currently being monitored for pre-e symptoms by ob 2-3 times a week and just taking things day by day. She said with my combo of symptoms vision changes, headaches, random high bp's they may or may not induce early. But Baby Boy is 37 weeks so I'm not super worried if they decide he needs to come early. I would rather wait to go naturally but as a mom we I've learned it's very important to be flexible.

I would LOVE to have the Ergo 360 baby carrier, but can't bring myself to spend the money on it. I have a baby bjorn that works well but when the baby gets over about 12-15 lbs it will hurt my back if worn for long periods of time. I just keep thinking of how much it easier it was "wear" DD while chasing DS around the zoo or park. I know the bjorn would get me through the winter, but I really would like to be able to still wear new baby in the spring. If we were planning a 4th child I would buy it no hesitation, but I think this is our last. Just can't decide if it's worth it.

    35 weeks = coconut!!

What went well was that I cleaned my house this past weekend and did laundry.. Which is a major accomplishment for me these days!

Greatest challenge is going to work every day. It's a 45 minute commute, I have to get up at 5:30 and I barely get any sleep so I'm exhausted all day! I know I can do it, I just have to stay positive!

I really want to splurge on some family photos after she is born. I just can't decide whether I should wait until she is a year old so her personality will come out more in the photos.. Other Than that, no splurges on baby stuff. I've had two kids and have learned that most of the stuff is not necessary. Maybe some cute outfits for photos..
