hello- I found out that I have gestational diabetes. I don't have an informative meeting until next Tuesday and I can't get a hold on this at all. I'm scared that I'm going to eat the wrong things all of the time. I also feel like everything I war either makes my blood sugar spike or I am scared to eat and it drops. I feel like crying and I don't know what to do. I'm scared all of the time and I feel sick all of the time too. Is anyone else going through this or has anyone gone through this in the past? What do I do? What do I eat? Please help if you can.
Re: 8 weeks along - gestational diabetes
Moderate Exercise, if you are medically cleared, will help a lot with controlling your blood sugar.
The good news is that catching it early means you and baby have the best chance at a healthy pregnancy and delivery! Mine was diagnosed after the 28week test, and I went on to have a healthy 7lb13oz girl.
Feel free to pm me if you have any questions or just need to vent

Fasting has always been my trouble number since my type 2 diagnosis. Pre-preg I was routinely 110-120. Pretty much right at the start of this pregnancy I went on a long acting night time insulin and it's been very effective.

The primary risk would be spells of low blood sugar. My dr started me on a conservative dose and gradually increased until my numbers were where they wanted. My situation is a little different, in that I knew going in to pregnancy that I would be on insulin at some point, but in many ways it was a relief because I don't have to stress as much about those am numbers.
