Taking LO in the pool

We have our own pool at our house.  Fiance' has been wanting to take LO in the pool with us.  I googled a bunch and mostly found to wait until three months or so.  I asked our pediatrician and she said that, since it is own pool and not a public one, it would be okay so long as the temp isn't too low, we take her out if she appears cold and bath her afterward.  Our LO will be 10 weeks tomorrow.

Has anyone taken their LO into their own pool this early?  Just want to get some additional thoughts.

  • Even though it's your own pool it's the temperature that is worrisome for such a young baby. I personally wouldn't do it but if your Pedi said it's fine and you are comfortable then go for it.

This.  10 weeks would be too young for me to take a baby into the pool, unless the water was warm.

And the water actually should be pretty warm. Usually much warmer than any pool normally is.
  • Thanks, ladies.  We live in Arizona, so the pool is really like bathwater right now.  The pediatrician did say we would need to keep an eye on the temperature. I don't think she would have said it would be okay if we weren't still above 100 degrees everyday.

Fiance' hasn't brought it up since the doctor appointment, so I won't bring it up either. :)
